Felt iPhone Cover

Wednesday, August 31, 2011

A while ago I saw this felt phone cover.
I've said before and I'll say again......I can't sew!  But I know someone who can ;)
My Mom!

(The phone fits all the way down inside.  I just pulled it out a bit for the photo)
We sat down together and planned out the color scheme so that I knew how many and of what color to  make all of my die cuts.  Then I handed it all off to her.  Well yesterday she finished it.  Isn't it just gorgeous?  I love it.
Thanks Mom!

Just A Note

Monday, August 29, 2011

This week's Make It Monday technique is blending colored pencils using baby oil or odorless mineral spirits.  I use the mineral spirits and it works really well to blend the color of the pencil on your image.  I've used this technique on both the flower and the leaves.

After coloring the images I cut them out and then ran them through my cuttlebug with the script embossing folder for Embellish Magazine's embossed flowers challenge.

I chose square for this week's Mojo Monday sketch challenge.
Whew! That's a lot for one card, but it just worked out that way!
Thanks for coming by.
See you later!

Happy Birthday, Cupcake!

We weathered the storm really well.  Although there was a lot of flooding in our area, it did not affect us.  We stayed dry and a kept our power through the storm.  Ryan's parents are without power, but safe:)  The wind knocked a piece of our soffit loose, but nothing major.  It just makes a really odd noise each time we get a wind gust.  We walked Lady at about 9am to check our neighborhood.  A few big branches down, a lot of debris on the roads, but no trees down.  Not much damage we could see which is good!  We had a storm a few weeks ago that was much worse.  I hope everyone farther north does as well as we did!

Thanks for all of your comments and concern for us:)

Mojo Monday #205

Saturday, August 27, 2011

I have been trying to get my hands on this set since I found PTI.  This was their first anniversary set that I missed out on.  It is full of really diverse images from floral to cupcakes and stars to birds.  It has a sentiment for just about every occasion.  Finally I was able to get one and I couldn't wait to use it!  I stamped my background using Ripe Avocado polka dots and then stamped the small floral image over that.

So far just some rain here in central/eastern NJ.  I have moved the potted plants and bird feeders inside since they are estimating 75mph winds from Irene. Seems she has lost some strength, which is good news.  I just hope we don't lose power.
Hope you are safe and dry!

Friday Inspiration File #30

Friday, August 26, 2011

Just got back from the gas station and Stop n Shop.  Whew, were they packed!!  Everyone is getting ready for hurricane Irene!  Hopefully, it won't be that bad.  I grew up in FL with hurricanes and tropical storms every year.  I didn't expect to have to prepare for one here in NJ!  Always better safe than sorry so I picked up my water and batteries (and some cookies too)!  I'm gonna make this quick because we have dinner guests coming tonight and I want to get my cleaning done before they come.
Have a great weekend and stay safe!

Ok, have fun checking these out:)
See you later!!

Papertrey Ink August Blog Hop

Thursday, August 25, 2011

There are so many different bits of inspiration you could take from this beautiful photo.  I decided to stamp my background on kraft with versamark ink to represent the inside of the vintage suitcase.  Then I used the towel pattern as inspiration for the floral pattern I stapmed on the bottom portion of my card using Garden Of Life.

Thanks for coming by.
I can't wait to see your project for the hop!

(click photo to go to this week's challenge)

I'm so excited to tell you that Arielle has invited me to be a part of her ColourQ Challenge Design Team!  Each week, on Tuesday, Arielle posts a new inspiration photo and pulls colors from it for the challenge.  I have loved participating in her challenges and I am so thrilled to be able to be a part of the design team!
I hope you'll join us!!

Daydreamer and Turning A New Leaf stamped together in these colors make a pattern that I just loved.  I don't think I would have chosen this color palette on my own, but really love the result.
That's why I love challenges!
