Halloween Decor

Some pretty ideas for next year!

Warmest Wishes

Sunday, October 31, 2010

I wanted to try Laurie's technique for making these ribbon flowers.  Super easy to make.  You can make them bigger or smaller by varying the length of the ribbon.  This was my first time working with PTI's Saddle Stitch Ribbon.  It's not stiff, so it is very easy to work with.

Happy Halloween!

Mummies' Ruturn

Saturday, October 30, 2010

I love how these little mummies have their own personalities.  This guy looks scared!
These are so easy to decorate and they all turn out so cute.  Ryan and I made these last night.  We are bringing them to our friends' house for dinner tonight.  I'm sure their boys will love them.

Have a great weekend!

Good Friends And Good Books

Thursday, October 28, 2010

A co-worker of mine and I have started a friendship based on our love of reading.  After one of our discussions, she came in the next day with a book for me to borrow.  I thought that was so nice of her to do without my having to ask.  I have just finished reading it and wanted to return her book with a small token of my own.  I made this bookmark for her:)
I'm looking forward to all the cute little pumpkins coming by on Sunday.
Have a great weekend!

Papertrey Ink October Blog Hop Challenge

Monday, October 25, 2010

There is always a lot of focus on Christmas in our industry this time of year, as that is what the majority of the population celebrates. However, this month's blog hop is dedicated to those that celebrate winter holidays other than Christmas. Create a project that celebrates Hanukkah, Kwanzaa or some other winter holiday as we embrace everyone's beliefs in a celebration of diversity through paper crafting.

For this challenge I decided to create some Hannukah cards for some friends at work.
To create the Menorah, I used the various sized brackets included in many of PTI's sets.  I choose the sizes that fit together the best.  To create the candles, I used a few sizes of exclamation points!

Since I don't have any Hannukah stamp sets, I choose a simple "Celebrate" sentiment.  I can write happy hannukah on the inside of the card.
I love how they came out and I hope my friends like them too!

Brick By Brick

Saturday, October 23, 2010

While cutting all of my bookmarks down to size, I was left with all of these little "bricks" of cardstock.  They were too large in scale for a card project, so I cut each one into 4 equal peices.  Now they were the perfect size!
I inked each brick with brown Colorbox ink and adhered them in a staggered pattern.  I loved the look of the aged brick, so I added some moss growing between some of the bricks with my copics.

I punched and layered about twenty of these holly leaves.  I used two different sized circle punches to create the wreath "form" that I glued all of the leaves to.  Added a little bit of Prisma glitter for sparkle!
Have a great weekend.  We are going to my cousin's annual Halloween party tonight.  My mom and I made some really cute cupcakes to bring to the party.  I'll try to get some good pictures to post.

Read-A-Thon

Friday, October 22, 2010

Next Friday we are having a Read-A-Thon at school.  Since our 5th graders don't wear their Halloween costumes to school or have class parties, we still want to give them a chance to do something fun.  The kids can wear comfy clothes and spend the morning reading independently, sharing their favorite stories with the class, and listening to stories read by the teacher.
I wanted to make each child a bookmark.  I wanted to keep it easy to make, since I needed 25.  I am also realistic and know what happens in the hands of 5th graders.  I'm sure I'll find more than 1 crumpled, discarded bookmark at the end of the day and I wanted to be OK with that.  This is what I came up with.  I hope they like them:)

Acorns

Friday, October 22, 2010

I wish I had thought of this a few weeks ago.  It seems that the squirrels have gotten to most of the acorns by now.  On our walk, it was hard to find these two still intact.  I love how they look glittered and would love a whole bowl of them to spread around my Thanksgiving table.  I'm still going to see if I can find some more.  I love the little brown one with the hole.  It reminds me of a miniature bird house!
I'll be back later with a paper craft project I have been working on for the students in one of the classes I work in.

Let It Snow

Tuesday, October 19, 2010

It has been raining here so much this fall.  We barely got any rain this summer, but now it doesn't seem to stop.  Luckily, there are a few sunny, clear days mixed in.  Good thing it isn't winter yet! We would have had so much snow!
I love these little shiny dome stickers.
The are not faceted, but are backed with a mirror and really have a lot of shine.
Have a great day!

Autumn Photography

Sunday, October 17, 2010

I've been too busy this weekend with fun things (making cupcakes with my mom, Batsto Village with friends) and not so fun things (cleaning and laundry), to get into my craft room.  I thought I'd share some beautiful Autumn photography from around the web.
Hope you are enjoying your weekend!

Fall Treats

Wednesday, October 13, 2010

Just adding a few more quick and easy treats to my stash.  This time I stamped and cut out a few small leaves.  Stapled some scraps of kraft to the tops of the glassine bags (the staple is under the leaf), and added a simple word from Just For You!
Have a great night!
