My Favorite {YouTube} Channels

Sunday, August 10, 2014

Yesterday I mentioned how much I love card making/crafty videos.
I love watching how people create.  Sometimes I put on a video and just listen while I create something myself.  I shared Dawn's {WPlus9} Channel and today I have a few more.

Vicky's channel is great. I love her card making videos, but it's her art journal videos that I love watching the most.

Yana makes beautiful and unique cards.
Love listening to her accent too!

Darlene uses many mediums and I love learning about them.
She's the reason I had to have Inktense pencils!

Jennifer shows you how to use what you have in new ways!

Nichol makes the most elaborate scenes!

Amy does a variety of styles.  So much fun to watch!

What are some of your favorites?
I'd love to check them out.

Friday Inspiration File #115

Friday, May 3, 2013

Last Saturday's adventure with my parents started with a trip to Pearl Paint.
It's a store I had been to a long time ago;
two floors of colorful art supplies.
We planned to go again, but found it had moved quite a distance away.
We decided it was worth the hour trip.....take a ride, get some lunch.
This location was much smaller,
but seemed to be packed with just about as much stuff as the old location.
I picked up some modeling paste {so much fun to work with I've discovered},
some spray fixative, a few pens, small linoleum blocks {to carve my own stamps}, and some watercolor postcards
My mom picked up some of the prettiest handmade papers from all over the world.
When we got home, she cut the large sheets in half so she could share them with me.
So sweet!

Then, as I mentioned yesterday,
we stumbled on Ikea and couldn't pass up the opportunity to check it out!
I snapped a few pictures of patterns that caught my eye, but the lighting in there was lousy for photos.

I picked up a few things for my craft room.
This fun wall mounted rod with buckets for odds and ends will go above my work table.
I also got this cute clip display.  Not sure where in my room it's going, but I'll let you know.

This is the bedding that inspired yesterday's card.

Cute birds, huh?
Maybe I'll carve a bird like this into one of my linoleum blocks!

Thanks for stopping by!
I really just came to let you know that the File has been updated and there are some really great projects in there.
Have a great weekend!

Monday Mood Board {FIF #113}

Friday, April 19, 2013

TGIF!
I'm so happy the weekend is finally here.
I placed an order at Scrapbook.com and it was delivered today.
A big, empty journal for me to mess up and some other supplies I wanted were on my doorstep when I got home from work today!

Dawn has put together another inspiring mood board this week.
I don't normally use red and green together except at Christmastime and at first I wasn't sure about this card, but it has grown on me!

I'm going to change clothes, get a cup of coffee, and see if I can be brave enough to start messing up my new book!

As always on Friday, there are new projects in the Friday Inspiration File over on Pinterest.
Really beautiful projects this week.  Check them out...#113.
See ya!

Art Journal/ CAS Card Design

Another little peek into my art journal.
Right now I am working on separate pieces of paper because I don't have a book, but I ordered
the dylusions creative journal.  It should be here on Friday!
Then I really have to commit and accept whatever happens.
No tearing out of pages {as I have been know to do}

With graduation season coming up I figured I could use a few congratulations cards.

With this beautiful sunny weather I'm not sure what possessed me to create a windy, cold-looking cityscape.  I just went with it:)
Hope you are having a wonderful weekend!

Art Journal/ CAS Design

Thursday, April 11, 2013

I had the chance to experiment some more in my art journal.
Watercolors have been my medium of choice.
This time I wanted to incorporate a pen and ink style with my watercolor.
I created the page at the bottom of this post.
Then I wanted to translate that design into something CAS for some cards.

To create the butterflies on my card I started with a full sheet of white cardstock.  I stamped the flowers and leaves using Versafine ink.  Then I went back in with a black pen to loosely trace the stamped image as well as add more lines.  This gave the image a more hand drawn look.
On my work surface I rub various ink pads and then sprayed them all with water.
Using one color at a time and drying in between, I flicked, dropped, and dripped the watercolor onto the images.
I was tempted to use the whole sheet, but really wanted something more simple.
I chose to die cut the paper with butterflies.

For my art journal page I used the same butterfly die.
I turned it cut side down on my watercolor paper and traced it with my pen.
I then went back in and added extra squiggles.

Thanks for coming by today.
Have you been experimenting with anything new lately?

Art Journal/ CAS Design

Sunday, April 7, 2013

I have been so inspired lately by art journals.
So many new mediums to explore; so  many new techniques to learn.
This morning I created an art journal page that I then interpreted into a CAS design.
Don't get me wrong...I am enjoying making a mess, but I still love clean and simple design!

Here's a close up of my first art journal page.

Today is my last day of spring break.
Back to work tomorrow!
Going to go squeeze every last drop out of my Sunday.
See you later!!
