12 Kits of Holidays {May}

Friday, May 31, 2013

We're back with May's 12 Kits of Holidays!
This month, though, it's not really a holiday, but definitely the kind of card you need from time to time and it's great to have a few on hand.
Our hostess this month is Marybeth and she sent an amazing kit full of Get Well sentiments and images.  She even sent us each a stamp set from Serendipity Stamps.

Here's a look at just some of the things included in this month's kit.

I loved having the chance to work with these die cut/stamped images.  I used and xacto knife to cut a slit in the bowl so that I could slip the spoon inside.  I also loved this paper with it because, besides being a classic color combination, the black and white stripes remind me of  chef's pants.

I had a lot of fun coloring these flowers.
I had seen this image on a few other blogs and loved it.  I was so happy to see a few included this month.  I added some glossy accents and white gel pen details to it too.  Love this beautiful lace ribbon!

These 'get well' die cuts were just the star of the kit this month in my opinion.  I just love them.  The extra long tails on the g and l just really get me!  Those little blue bumbly sparkly gem things made me happy too.

Couldn't resist using both 'get well' die cuts.
I had so much fun with this kit and I have so much more left over to make more!

Thanks, Marybeth for such a fun kit!
Hop around and see what everyone else has made.
I can't wait to do the same.

I've also added my favorite projects to the Friday Inspiration File...#119.

Hello
Thank you all so much for your sweet comments yesterday.
You really made my day!

I'm back again today with a new ColourQ challenge.

I had a great weekend.
We had some family over for a BBQ, planted tons of pretty flowers,
and spent the day running around Philly.
I hope you had wonderful weekend too!

Quite An Honor

Monday, May 27, 2013

hi!

I loved the layout of Aimee's card.
For my banners I used Tim Holtz tissue.  I glued the tissue to white cardstock with matte medium.
When it was dry, I spritzed it with several colors of Heidi Swapp Color Shine.
Once that dried, I cut the piece into banners, strips, and hearts.

Thanks so much for stopping by.
I'm so excited to be Moxie Fabber Of The Week!
There's an interview over at the Moxie Fab World Blog if you're interested.
It's quite an honor. Thanks, Cath!

Stamping With Twinkling H2Os

Saturday, May 25, 2013

I hope you can see a little bit of the twinkle.
In person they really shimmer!

Have you used Twinkling H2Os?
I hadn't until recently.  They are little pots of watercolor paints that have mica
in them to make them shimmer.
The color in the pots is dry and there are several ways to activate them.
You can spray water directly into the pots or
you can spray water onto a craft sheet and wet your brush.
For my card,  I wet my brush and then went into the pots.
I wanted to activate the colors, but not water them down too much because instead of painting directly onto the paper I wanted to stamp with them. This works best if the color is a paste consistency.  I painted the color onto my stamp, spritzed the stamp with water from about 6 inches away, and then stamped onto my die cuts.
For my background I wanted a more subtle wash of color so I sprayed water directly into the pot and let it sit a few minutes.
After everything was dry, I went back in with a fine liner pen.  I wanted to give the feeling of drawn images that had been painted in with watercolor rather than stamped.

Enjoy the hop!
I can't wait to see what you've come up with
with all of those pretty color palettes to choose from.

Friday Inspiration File #118

Friday, May 24, 2013

Happy Friday!
It's been one heck of a week and
I am happy to have a long holiday weekend to relax.
I've added some beautiful projects to the file this week.
Scrapbook pages seem to really be catching my eye lately.
There are plenty of cards in there too...check them out!

Tomorrow is the PTI May Blog Hop and I've used Twinkling H20s on my card.
They're shimmery watercolors and they create a beautiful effect.
See you tomorrow!

ColourQ #190

Tuesday, May 21, 2013

Good Morning!
Today I have a butterfly kaleidoscope using this week's new ColourQ colors.
I had so much fun stamping and coloring this design.
I loved the way it turned out and didn't want to cover up all my hard work ;)
I decided to use some vellum to emboss my sentiment and added a few strips of glitter using score tape to keep everything nice and straight.

Thanks for stopping by today.
I hope you'll join us again this week.
