Friday Inspiration File #102

Friday, February 1, 2013

Hello and Happy Friday!
It has been a long week.  How about you?
Yesterday Ryan came home with these awesome, old Russian Matryoshka Dolls.
They belonged to his mom. Knowing how much I love them, he asked his dad if I could have them.
Such a treasure!

I've added projects to the Inspiration File and I just have a few more to add.
Have a great weekend!

Vintage Birthday

Sunday, January 9, 2011

This is such a different style for me, but it was really fun to create.  I started out gathering things and creating embellishments with a vintage quality to them for my Etsy shop.  Then I liked them so much  I wanted to use them too!

I replaced the pieces I "stole" from the kit and it will be in my shop soon:)
Have a great day!

Cardstock: PTI Aqua Mist, Kraft, Ocean Tides, K&Co Paper
Stamps: PTI Butterfly Dreams
Ink: PTI Tea Dye Duo, Memento Brown
Other: PTI Dies, Felt, Rhinestones, Wilton Doily, MM Stick Pin, Embossing Folder, MM Safety Pin, MM Sticky Strip, MS Glitter, Satin Ribbon

Parcel

Friday, August 13, 2010

One of the stores we stumbled on during our cupcake adventures was Parcel. When I walked in the door, I had no idea what I was walking into. It was just the most magical little shop filled with vintage and new odds and ends crammed into old drawers and pudding tins. Paper and labels and game pieces, envelopes, candy, watch parts, die cuts, stickers, bird nests, ribbon, letters! I could have spent hours in there.
Parcel also has their own line of invitations and embellishments with Jolee's Boutique!
Check out their website. It's just incredible (if you can stand the music after about a minute:)!

Have a great weekend.
Go exploring if you have the chance.
You never know what you will find!

Honeycomb Jar

Friday, June 25, 2010

Here's another great jar I picked up while visiting my aunt in PA. The glass has a honeycomb pattern on it.
The lid has a domed metal insert perfect for the stems of flowers.

My hydrangea bush finally flowered this year after many years with nothing. It's quite a show:)

Grandma's Doilies

Thursday, December 31, 2009

I have a ton of old doilies. Some belonged to my grandmother, some belonged to my husband's grandmother, and some were made by my husband's great grandmother. I love them, but struggle to find a creative, more updated way to use them. Last year I tried this. They looked beautiful. Here is a new way to use doilies. I love this idea. They look so romantic hanging in the window. These were made by Jennifer aka Field and Sea. See more of her doily photos and how-to here.

Have a safe New Year!

Raspberry Suite Color Challenge - Week 4

Saturday, May 2, 2009

Edit:
The stem stamp is from Autumn Leaves. The sentiment stamp is Stampin'Up! (from 2002) and the patterned paper is from Basic Gray's Ambrosia line.

I used some of my vintage buttons to create the flowers. The sentiment is from one of the stamp sets I won:)

Have a great weekend!

Can't Seem To Catch Up

Tuesday, March 24, 2009

Lately it seems as if I am always trying to catch up. Not sure what it was that threw me off, but I am having a hard time getting back "on".

Made a bunch of quick, easy cards for a work muffin swap. Each card says who baked the muffins and was placed in front of the basket or tray.

I am behind on last week's 52Q question and quickly falling behind on this week's question.

I am in love with these earrings, but I missed the boat on these too. Maybe another pair will become available in sproutstudio.

Love these vintage bobby pins from the same Etsy shop.

I did manage to go for a run last night. That's good:)
Hope you are having a good week.

Little Girl

Another accordion album (4x6). I love this paper.

I used some of the vintage buttons that I bought at the auction a few weekends ago.

52Q-10 Name 5 Movies That Inspire You Creatively

Wednesday, March 11, 2009

I look forward to the responses to this week's question. Ryan and I love to rent movies and it will be great to have a list of some well loved and inspiring movies to check out. My list is:

The Piano
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Nightmare Before Christmas
James and the Giant Peach
Royal Tenenbaums

All are beautiful visually. They make me want to make things or take pictures of things.

Still image from the movie is printed on vellum and heat embossed. I layered that over part of a calendar photograph taken by Ansel Adams. A masking tape transfer of sheet music is layered between the two. It is very subtle, but is visible. (see photo above)

Saturday Morning

Saturday, March 7, 2009

I love Saturday morning. It's nice to wake up together. During the week, Ryan has left for work before I get up.

I have a new found appreciation/ love of vintage kitchen linens. Love the bright colors and bold patterns.
