52Q-12 What Are You Grateful for Right Now?

Sunday, March 29, 2009

Question 12 from Emily Falconbridge's 52Q project. I am grateful for {our life} and everything in it!

52Q-10 Name 5 Movies That Inspire You Creatively

Wednesday, March 11, 2009

I look forward to the responses to this week's question. Ryan and I love to rent movies and it will be great to have a list of some well loved and inspiring movies to check out. My list is:

The Piano
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Nightmare Before Christmas
James and the Giant Peach
Royal Tenenbaums

All are beautiful visually. They make me want to make things or take pictures of things.

Still image from the movie is printed on vellum and heat embossed. I layered that over part of a calendar photograph taken by Ansel Adams. A masking tape transfer of sheet music is layered between the two. It is very subtle, but is visible. (see photo above)

What Does It Mean To Be Brave?

Wednesday, March 4, 2009

"A coward is incapable of exhibiting love; it is the prerogative of the brave."

Mahatma Gandhi

Someone once said that bravery was not the absence of fear, but feeling the fear and doing it anyway. I don't remember who, but I like that.

52Q question 9 is:
What was the last brave thing I did?

What was the last thing that made you laugh out loud?

Tuesday, February 24, 2009

Question Number 8 was posted yesterday and I got a visual image of like an old carnival type mouth laughing and I really wanted to make my tag in that style. So, this is what I came up with and it too, made me laugh out loud!

What Would You do If You Knew You Could Not Fail?

Wednesday, February 18, 2009

This week's question is What would I do If I knew I could not fail?
Live My Dreams.
All those things I dreamed of doing and becoming, but would need a few lifetimes to achieve! I'm still adding to it. It takes some time to remember all of those old, forgotten, and in some cases, abandoned dreams. It takes time, too, to remember all the new dreams that pop in and are too easily cast off as impossible or not destined for success. This was a fun one. I let myself doodle like I used to when I was in school.

If I Could Do It All Again

Would I Change Anything?
My inspiration this week came from Leonardo Da Vinci. I started thinking about all of his mechanical drawings in his many notebooks. All the brown tones and scribbled (backwards) notes. If he had figured out a way to make time travel possible, would I go back and do it all gain or change anything? Many times I have said to myself, "I wish I had done this.." "I wish I had done that...", but what it comes down to is, would I take a chance and risk giving up my present to correct things in my past? No Way! I am satisfied in knowing that I am learning from my mistakes.

Ready For Spring

Tuesday, February 3, 2009

It's snowing today. I love to watch the snow fall; it is very beautiful. However, I am definitely a warm weather creature. I love to be warm and feel the sun. So today I feel ready for spring. Unfortunately Phil, the groundhog, says I'll have to wait six more weeks.

So this is my ode to spring, in the hopes that six weeks won't seem so long.

52Q Binder

Thursday, January 29, 2009

I found a recycled binder at an office supply store. I thought it would be a great way to store all of my 52Q cards.

Ryan's grandmother used to save stamps and he gave me her collection to use in my artwork. They are all so colorful and from wonderful places I would love to visit.

This leather flower is from a cute hair clip that I loved, but never had the courage to wear.

52Q When I Look Into My Eyes, I See.......

Tuesday, January 27, 2009

I printed my photo on textured card stock, gently sanded the edges and clear embossed words and images that represented a part of me. I plan to put the journaling on the back , but I am still working on it.

52Q Do You Believe In Fairies?

Thursday, January 22, 2009

I have always been enchanted by the story of Lady Cottington and the watercolor images by Brian Froud. Even if you don't like fairies, the illustrations are too good to miss. When I saw the theme for the third question, I thought instantly about this book. I had a lot of fun making this one.

With 52Q

Q1: What do I wish for 2009?

2009 might be the year I become a mother, I wish for that!
