Art Journal/ CAS Design

 

I have been so inspired lately by art journals.

So many new mediums to explore; so  many new techniques to learn.

This morning I created an art journal page that I then interpreted into a CAS design.

Don't get me wrong...I am enjoying making a mess, but I still love clean and simple design!

Friday Inspiration File #111

 

I mentioned yesterday that my new cardstock scrap 'system' is

working so well for me. 

I know it seems so obvious, but I just never did it.

 

I used to store all scraps, no matter the size, together in a drawer and I just never wanted to dig through there to find a small piece.  I would always end up cutting into a big piece that could have been used for something else.  Now, with my tiny scraps right there in my die cutting area, it is so easy to find just the right piece and use up those tiny scraps.

 

Such a simple thing makes me so happy:)

I Made A Mess.....

........And Then I Made This!

I had so much fun today making a mess.  I am usually a very clean and simple crafter, but I was so inspired by this video by Shari that I spent hours watching art journal videos.  I found Vicky's art journal videos super inspiring too.  I just wanted to try the process!

 

So, today I bought some gelatos and got to work. 

I did also pick up some gesso to eventually start an art journal of my own, but I started out first with something I am familiar with....emboss resist.

I love the way it came out.  I edged all of the pieces with a black copic marker.

It kind of gives it a comic book look!

I also watered down some gesso and flicked it onto the panel.

Birthday Collage

 

Spring Break 2013 continues.

Nothing too exciting around here, but I am getting some spring cleaning/organizing done.

My new small scrap cardstock system is working out great.

I separated out all of the small pieces {large enough for die cutting...anything smaller was discarded} and now store them in a small bin that is right near my die cutting machine.  I have noticed I am using them a lot.  This way I'm not cutting into large pieces for small die cuts.

Love it!

 

 

I had fun creating this little collage background.

I knew I wanted to use some fun textures. 

 I love pink and orange together and I threw in a little green to wake it up!

I've been doing some spring cleaning around here and I need a few organizational things. 

It's also about time I buy a new iron.  The one I have is temperamental and only gets hot when it wants to.  I hope you are having a good week so far!

 

 

Just a little tip: 

 If you have the Lacey Layers dies from Wplus9, the circle die is the perfect size for these circle stamps in the ME On Target set!

Good Morning!

It's time once again for a new ColourQ challenge.

This week's colors are soft and feminine.

 

This card was a fun experiment.

I had picked up some canvas from Little Yellow Bicycle and I wanted to experiment with die cutting and adding color to it.

I have to admit, I'm not in love with it, but it was fun to make!
