Masking With Autumn Blessings

Saturday, September 29, 2018

Hello!  It's Saturday and it's pretty chilly today.  I'm looking forward to a little fire in the fire pit this evening.  So cozy!

It's definitely Autumn.  You know me, I love summer, but I'm trying to embrace fall.  There's a lot to love about this season, like the gorgeous stamp sets released this time of year.

This card features a one layer design using a lot of masking. I started by stamping the rectangle (Autumn Blessings) and the sentiment (Hello & Thanks) in black ink.  I cut a mask to cover the rectangle, then stamped the sunflower wreath.  I removed the rectangle mask and replaced it with a mask that covered both the rectangle and the sunflower wreath.  The Autumn Blessings coordinating dies make this very easy to do!

Once everything was masked off again, I stamped the leaves and acorns to fill in the rest of the panel.  I added some Copic coloring to the wreath and touches of shimmer with a clear Wink Of Stella glitter brush pen.

Simple and fun to create!  Have a lovely weekend!

Congrats Grad

Hey! Graduation is right around the corner and if you live in the south kids are already graduating!  I thought it was the perfect time for a card like this.  Since I work in a High School I could use a few more!

I love this girl from The Crew School Days.  She's the perfect scale for the cap from Smart Kitty.  Sadly that set is retired, but if you have it in your stash they go so well together!  If you have any suggestions for Copic colors that would make strawberry blonde hair, let me know!

I did a lot of masking on this one to create the giant stack of books.  It was easy to do and came together very quickly.

Masking Technique For A Bold Graphic Design

Wednesday, August 23, 2017

Hey! Look at me making cards for no reason!  It's so hard, in the summer, for me to want to sit inside and make anything unless I have a deadline.  It's not that I don't love it.  I just love the warmth and sunshine more, especially now that I live in the Northeastern US and most of the year is chilly or cold! {I grew up in Florida}

Today my card is just as sunshiny as the weather!  I used WP9 lemons from Summer Citrus to create an all over pattern.  Then I cut several masks using the lemon die from the coordinating die set.  I think I cut about 5 masks.  That way I could mask off several lemons at a time, stamp the black image and then reposition the masks in another area.  I think this gives such a cool, graphic look!

I don't mind that there is a gap between the lemon image and the black image.  I think it adds to the 'the look'.   That black image is a stamp from the Altenew set called Simple Flowers.  After all of my stamping and masking, I cut the panel using the WP9 4 Bar Stitched Rectangle Die.

 My sentiment is a mixture of heat embossed and die cut from the WP9 Hand Lettered Hello set and coordinating die.  I used a banner from PTI called the Double Ended Banner Die.  That banner helps hide adhesive that you might otherwise see through the vellum.

The vellum overlay and black panel were both die cut with the largest of the Stitched Rectangle Die set from Simon Says Stamp.
