Friday, December 30, 2016

It's almost a new year!  Just a one more day and it'll be 2017! Before then, I wanted to take a look back at 2016 and share a few of the cards that were the most fun for me to create and send this year!  Whether  it was the excitement of creating with a new product or for a special occasion, these were the cards that stand out for me. Thanks so much for visiting me this year.  I look forward to sharing more in the coming year!

{Sweet}Heart Garland

Monday, January 4, 2016

Hello! It's back to the real world today; holiday break is over. Since Valentine's Day is he next major holiday, hearts are everywhere.  It got me thinking about this garland stamp from Hero Arts and how cute the little ornaments would look if I changed them to hearts!

For both of my cards I started by masking off the circle ornaments before inking.  This card I inked with three Pure Color Dye Inks from WPlus9: Little Piggy at the bottom, Sweet Gelato in the middle, and Cranberry Crush at the top.  Once the stamp was inked, I removed the masks and made an impression on my cardstock.  Using the hearts from the WP9 Little Bits stamp set, I added the ornaments back in using the same ink colors.

Curving the sentiments on my acrylic block first, I stamped them along the garland in the darkest ink.

For my second card, I repeated the process this time using Versamark embossing ink.  I embossed the garland and the hearts with white powder.  There were a few areas along the garland that did not emboss.  I took the opportunity to fill in the space with small sentiments! Before adding the sentiments, I added color to the stamped panel with the same WP9 dye inks as well as a few Distress Inks to help it blend.

Finally, I added a bit of shimmer with the WP9 Shimmer Spray.

Thanks so much for stopping by today.
Hope you're having a great one!
