Happily Ever After

Saturday, March 28, 2009

Purple is not one of my favorite colors. So, when a co-worker requested a purple card, I was not excited about it. I forced myself, in the first few attempts, to use purple as the dominant color. I hated them. When I toned it down a bit, I was very happy with the results.

We put the rack back on the car and took the bikes out last night. It was a nice ride, but a little chilly. I'm still waiting for spring!

Thank You

Thursday, November 27, 2008

Happy Thanksgiving!! Hope you are all having a wonderful day with family and friends.

Along with the announcements I made for my friend, I thought she could use some "Thank You" notes for all those baby gifts she will be receiving.

I love the way they turned out. Hope she does too!

Welcome To The World

Tuesday, November 25, 2008

A friend at work will be beginning her maternity leave at the end of next week. I wanted to make her some birth announcements. She knows she is having a boy, but hasn't decided on a name yet. It has been a lot of fun seeing how the first graders react to her growing belly. Their questions and comments are heartwarming and hysterical.

I decided to give them in a box from one of my PaperTrey Ink stamp sets.

I used Making Memories paper and I cut out some cute shapes with my Silhouette. I hope she likes them and I hope she doesn't visit my blog before next Friday!

Beach Birthday Invites

Saturday, October 18, 2008

Working on birthday invitations this weekend. This is the sample. The client wanted simple beach invites, since they live on the beach. I didn't want to have it looking too "summery", because the party is in November.

She loved them!

Growing Up

Tuesday, October 7, 2008

I noticed, during Labor Day weekend, how my nephew was really starting to grow up. As he was maneuvering that seining net like a pro, I noticed his baby fat had been replaced by little muscles. I wanted to capture that for his book. I have been spending so much time lately making cards and other projects, that I probably haven't made a scrapbook page in several months. It was fun to work with that size "canvas" again. I like the simple design and will probabaly do some journaling on the back.

Tropical Wedding

Wednesday, October 1, 2008

A friend of mine is going to a wedding next week and wanted a special card. She is also doing a reading at the wedding and didn't want to walk up to the podium with a piece of white printer paper. She asked if I could make a card and also a pretty something to carry and read and then give to the bride and groom. She gave me their invitation so I could try to match the colors and style. I think my friend will be surprised by how closely I was able to match the actual invites. Using my silhouette, I was able to cut the almost exact same hibiscus flower and dragonfly. They came out really well. I can't wait to show my friend tomorrow.

This is a picture of the invitation.

I hope she likes them.

Finally....

Saturday, September 27, 2008

I have some time to play around with my stuff. This was a busy week, with Ryan's birthday and Back to School night there wasn't much time left over. Today I made a few cards for my mom and dad. They are moving in November. I will make them some more, but here is what I have so far. I got the ribbon from Michael's. It is Martha Stewart and almost all of the colors were on sale for 99 cents (for 5 yards). Good deal.

I also made a few holiday planners. I saw this project on another blogger's site. I really liked the idea and they are fun and easy to make. Visit Mish Mash for the directions and many other beautiful projects.

Apple of My Eye

Downloaded a new file for my silhouette digital cutter. Love the apple border. Hope you all had a great weekend!

Color Challenge

Thursday, August 7, 2008

I happened upon one of the coolest blogs not that long ago. KWernerdesign blog I have been dying to participate in one of her color challenges. Wouldn't you know, the first combination I try was quite a challenge. I normally do not use these kinds of colors. It was so much fun, I made two.

This second one came out kind of Mod.

I can't wait for the next one!

Create Your Own Stamps

Thursday, July 10, 2008

Creating Keepsakes magazine had a great tip in its August 2008 issue about creating your own stamps. Since I have recently purchased a Silhouette digital craft cutter, I am still learning how to use its many features. When I received the latest edition of CK, I was so excited to see that someone had discovered that it can cut through rubber stamp material. I can make my own acrylic stamps! The material is available at this online store. I can't wait to try this. So, if you have one or are considering buying one, add one more thing to the list of things this cool little machine can do.

Here are a few projects using my silhouette.
