12 Kits Of Occasions {September 2014}

New DT Member
Not sure if you've noticed, but we have been a member short for awhile.  This is why we have had a guest every month, to be our twelfth.  Finally, we have invited someone to join us permanently and she said, "Yes!"

Lindsey of Occasional Crafting.
Welcome Lindsey, we are so happy to have you join us!

The fact that we have been a member short also leaves us without a hostess for this month which is why we decided to do a leftovers month.  We are all revisiting old kits and making new projects.

Kara {that's me}

I had intended to get a ton of Christmas cards done, but I just couldn't get into it.  I'm still not ready for summer to be over let alone start thinking about winter.  So I made a compromise, fall!
I put together a kit last year that was Fall/Thanksgiving themed.
I have used colors, images, and sentiments from that kit for my card today.

At the last minute I was able to make a project using papers from another one of our past kits for this week's Make It Monday.  I loved the paper so much I bought 2
more pads of it to make all of my Christmas tags last year.

We have invited our Past Guest Designers to pull out their leftovers and join us again this month. Here is a list of the past guest designers who are joining in the fun.  Thanks, Ladies!

Simply Amazing

Good Morning!
I always stamp on white cardstock and I love it, but I also feel like I'm missing out because stamping on colored cardstock can be so beautiful.  I decided to make an effort to stamp on colored cardstock more often.  Today I stamped shades of blue  and green onto grey cardstock.  I know, grey is not that far from white, but baby steps ;)

I used gorgeous flowers from Pretty Peonies to create clusters of flowers on this {basically} one layer card. A simple sentiment finishes this card.  I love the mix of fonts in the sentiments from the Quite Like You stamp set from WPlus9.

Cardstock: WP9 Dove Grey, Black
Stamps: WP9 Pretty Peonies, Quite Like You
Ink: WP9 Lake House, Nautical Navy, Mojito, Versafine Onyx

Flutter {Paper Casting}

Sunday, September 28, 2014

Hello again!
I'm getting this card in under the wire for this week's Make It Monday challenge. I made the toilet paper butterfly last week, let it dry, and cut around the butterfly shape.  With an xacto knife, I roughed up the edges.  I splattered the butterfly and the background with spray mists.  I dripped the color on rather than spraying because I didn't want to add too much moisture.  I probably would have lost a lot of the detail from the initial casting if it got too wet.

A few little details and it's done.
I notice I've been using black a lot on my cards lately, going through a phase.
 I love the contrast.
Thanks for coming by again today!
See you later.

What a gorgeous weekend!
Is the weather beautiful where you are?
Unfortunately, I am enjoying the weather from my spot on the couch.  Went back to exercise class on Friday night and I was feeling great.  About 10 minutes until the end of class I did a knee raise and felt a pop.  Pain! After about an hour I could barely walk.  I went to the doctor yesterday morning, had an x-ray {which can't show what we're looking for}, and now have to wait to make an appt. with an orthopedic doctor on Monday so that I can get an MRI.  The doctor thinks it's a possible torn meniscus or ligament.  I hope it's not that severe.

 So I haven't been able to do much, but I was able to sit at my craft desk and stamp a little! I created this colorful library using the stamp set from the Simon Says Stamp card kit and beautiful WP9 PURE COLOR Dye Inks.

Thanks so much for stopping by.

Hi Guys!
Tomorrow's Friday.
Hope your week is going well.
I joined a kick boxing gym this week and I really enjoyed the class.  I can't walk, but it was great.  Headed back for more punishment fun tomorrow!

I made this card last night while waiting for Ryan to get home from work.  Yesterday was his birthday!  We had a quiet evening at home, but we plan to go out for a special dinner this weekend.

Do you have any special weekend plans?

Perfect In My Book

Sunday, September 21, 2014

I'm really enjoying playing with this card kit.  The papers that were included are really pretty.  Light blue and red is one of my favorite color combinations.  It's so much fun to build your wall using this stamp set.

I added a little glossy accents to the clock face to give it a more realistic look.  So cute!
Hope you're having a great weekend.

All supplies from the SSS September Card Kit except:
WP9 PURE COLOR Dye Ink in Lake House and Coconut Husk
WP9 Love Notes Die {heart}

Oh, Hello There

Saturday, September 20, 2014

Yay! It's the weekend.
Still playing around with the SSS September Card Kit that I won.
Yesterday's card was very masculine and distressed, today I have a happy, bright, graphic card.
Hard to believe it's the same stamp set.
I used my favorite WPlus9 PURE COLOR Dye Ink colors for a rainbow: Sweet Gelato, Wild Mango, Mojito, Lake House.

Have a great weekend!

Monday, Monday

Monday, September 15, 2014

Hi!
Happy Monday
I thought I'd share a few Instagram pictures with you today mainly because the only halfway decent picture of this card I could get was with my iphone!  Kraft.......;)  I used Pretty Peonies and stamped the first and second step in white pigment ink.  Then, I added color with Derwent Inktense Pencils and water.  Accented with some dots and a sentiment from Dream Believer.  Had to get the envelope in on the action too!

Thank you to my sweet, crafty friends for all of the beautiful birthday cards!

This month's 12 Kits Of Occasions will be a REWIND!  Revisiting old kit leftovers and using those up.  We have invited past DT member and Guest Designers to join us on the 30th so it should be a lot of fun!  We will also be introducing a new member! I plan on focusing on Christmas cards, but expect everything from Birthday to Get Well to Thanksgiving!

See you later

It Ain't Easy {Using} Green

Saturday, September 13, 2014

Aside from leaves, stems, or grass green is not a color I often use.
What about you?  Do you reach for green as the main color in your design?

I decided today should be green's day.  I started out by using the Lattice Frame Die as a stencil to apply some modeling paste to my cardstock.  I let that dry and then added color and water.  I used Mowed Lawn and Peeled Paint distress ink.  When that was dry I added black splatters of Heidi Swapp Color Shine.  From that piece I die cut my circle and feathers.

Everything that was die cut from black cardstock got a coating of clear Wink of Stella.

It's an overcast rainy day here today.  We were going to go out tonight, but maybe we'll get some movies and stay in instead.

Butterfly Splats

Friday, September 12, 2014

Hello and Happy Friday!
I made it through my first full week of school and I am starting to feel more alive after work. This is the first time since school started that I felt like making anything {and I worked out!}.  I loved how this Pretty Peonies card turned out that I wanted to create the same look, but with these beautiful butterflies from

 Friday also means that some really beautiful new projects have been added to the Friday Inspiration File

Since yesterday was my birthday I have received some birthday moolah that I am planning to use towards a new camera.  I'd love to hear what you're using, loving, and/or wishing for in a camera.
So far on Instagram I have gotten a few suggestions.
I'd love to hear yours!
Have an awesome weekend.
