You're So Sweet

Monday, January 26, 2015

Hello!
So...snow days....they're pretty much the best!
I had a chance to play around today and I'll have even more time tomorrow.  We are expecting 18-24 inches of snow overnight.  I just hope not too many people lose power.
Piper is loving the snow!

On to the card!  This wood stamp is by Serendipity Stamps.  Isn't it the coolest?  It's a large stamp, about 6x6 I think.  I've never had a background stamp that big.  Anyway, after stamping it in Versafine Onyx ink I heat embossed it with clear embossing powder.  I know Memento works best with Copics, but honestly I'm not impressed with how that ink stamps.  Any time I Copic color I stamp with Versafine.  Occasionally I'll emboss it like I did here, but most of the time I'm just very careful when I color not to pull that ink into  my image.  I've been on the hunt for a Memento reinker, maybe if the pad is wet enough I'll get better results.  Until then, Versafine it is.  Coloring this took quite awhile, but I think it was worth it.  It's certainly not a mass producible card.

Since it's a Valentine's Day card I decided to make the owl living inside peek out from a heart shaped knot hole!

Thanks for stopping by!

Epic Plaid

Saturday, January 24, 2015

Good Morning on this snowy Saturday!
If you follow me on Instagram you know exactly where I am.
Yup, sitting near the warm wood stove!
One of my old friends in Florida is getting married today.  Thankfully, she is having much better weather in Miami than we are here.

In an effort to break myself out of my monochromatic phase I decided to play along with this week's ColourQ.  I was very drawn to these colors and the adorable images on that gift bag.  I decided to use the colors to stamp a plaid design.  I used WP9 Ocean Drive, Sweet Gelato, Coconut Husk, and White pigment ink.  I love the WPlus9 Pure Color Dye inks.  In February, WPlus9 is releasing new colors.  Check out Dawn's Instagram feed.  She's already shown sneak peeks of a few new colors:  Little Piggy, Cockleshell, and Fairy Dust.  There will be six new colors in all in the Story Book Collection.

Have a great day.
Hope it's EPIC!

This time last year I was knee deep in glitter!  I love these geometric glitter hearts and they are so easy to make.  Check out the original post {HERE} for details and more cards using the same technique.

Found a picture I posted way back, on Instagram, of the sheet I created before I die cut it.

I have already added new projects to The File for tomorrow's Friday Inspiration File..#203

Sending You Something Special

Wednesday, January 21, 2015

I seem to be on a monochromatic kick lately.  I love these colors together: Aqua Mist, Hawaiian Shores, and Tropical Teal.  I pulled out an old favorite, Star Prints,  for this week's Make It Monday to make a card for my nephew.  I knew I was sending him a gift card for his birthday and thought Ashley's tri-fold design would be the perfect way to present it to him.   I started out by following Ashley's measurements. I cut an 81/2 x 11 piece of cardstock in half lengthwise.  I scored that piece at 3" and at 8".  I cut the left panel with WP9's curved border die from Landscape Borders.  I did the same to a piece of black cardstock that was a bit longer than the panel.

I stamped a few star images from Star Prints and Out Of this World on the front panel and also on the inside.  I added the fun sentiments from Star Prints and coordinating sentiments from Movers and Shakers Sentiments.  Using Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangle dies I lined the right panel and created a gift card pocket for the inside.  The card is held shut with a little white dot of Velcro.

I stamped the same star images to create patterned paper to line the envelope.  I hope he likes it!
Thanks so much for stopping by.

It's A Guy Thing

Saturday, January 17, 2015

Simon Says Stamp is running a challenge this week that focuses on guy cards.  When I sit down to create cards I often don't have a recipient in mind, unless it's last minute.  I prefer to have a stash to choose from.  Since I don't have a recipient in mind, I tend to lean towards floral images when creating birthday cards and these don't work well for the guys in my life.  This time I created specifically with the guys in mind.

Using WPlus9 Folk Art Flurries and shades of yellow and orange I stamped an overall pattern.  I used the Simon Says Stamp stitched rectangle dies to create my frame and window.

In side the window I stamped one snowflake image and my sentiment from Strictly Sentiments 5.

I loved the pink/red version of this card so much that I thought it would look great in shades of blue too!!  Love this classic Birthday Style stamp set.

Thanks so much for stopping by!
I hope to be back soon with projects using a few new goodies I picked up from SSS....

Birthday Wishes

Sunday, January 11, 2015

I've had these three ink colors on my desk for about a week now:  PTI Sweet Blush, WP9 Sweet Gelato, and SU! Real Red.  Originally, I planned to use them for snowflakes.  I still might, but decided the colors would also make fun birthday cards.

This first card is for a sketch challenge.  I loved the layered focal point of the sketch and die cut rectangles out of coordinating cardstocks to match the stamped balloons.  I didn't like the long balloon string that came in the Birthday Style stamp set so instead I used a small image from Festive Greetings.  It's meant to string Christmas lights, but I think it makes a cute balloon string too!

I added a secondary sentiment from Strictly Sentiments 4 to the outside of this card and the inside of this next card.

The stamped design of both cards is based on this week's Make It Monday, colorful card corners, so all of the images are stamped in the corners.  I added a few bits of  'confetti' with my favorite little stamp from Dream Believer.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Smitten {200 Weeks Of Inspiration}

Wednesday, January 7, 2015

Today I have a card inspired by Laurie {Soapbox Creations} I love the simplicity of her card.  All of that white space with a tiny pop of red.  To add interest to the white space, I die cut the WP9 XOXO border about 10 times.  I adhered them all to another piece of white cardstock then die cut the whole thing with the largest stitched rectangle from SSS to mimic her machine stitching.

I stamped a sentiment from WP9 Unconditionally on a Conversation Bubble and added a tiny red heart from SSS holiday shapes die.

Thanks so much to everyone who has joined me for this challenge!
You still have time to join in {until Thursday at 11:55 EST}.  Check out all of the details on the 200 Weeks Of Inspiration Challenge post!

To Infinity {200 Weeks Of Inspiration}

Tuesday, January 6, 2015

With so many boys in my life, I can never have too many cards like this.  My design is inspired by a holiday card that Yana {Cardmaking & Scrapbooking} created.  Again, her card was a one layer and I just had to pop my panel up. What can I say? ;)
I placed my images in a similar pattern using several shades of one color like Yana did.

This card, like one yesterday, has a dark card base and needed to be lined.  I was able {and I remembered} to stamp a few coordinating images and sentiment on the inside as well.

Thanks for stopping by.
