Saturday With The Boys

Sunday, March 24, 2013

I had a great day yesterday with my nephews.
We went to the park.  We played on the playground, chased geese, and froze!
It was beautiful, but so cold.

Today I'm staying in to work on a few projects {yay!} and get the laundry done {boo!}.
What are your Sunday plans?

Thanks For Everything

Ryan and I are home again after a long weekend in PA. We try to make this trip every year. We had such a great time with our family. My nephews are growing up so fast. They cracked us up all weekend long.
My sister-in-law and I took some time to hit some antique shops. I found 2 of these awesome bottle carriers, at a great price too!

It turned out our watermelon was seedless, which needless to say makes having a watermelon seed spitting contest difficult.
We were very resourceful and used split peas instead:)

As you can see, I wasn't very good at it!
The kids really got a kick out of it.

Watermelon Seed Spitting Contest

Saturday, July 3, 2010

Our family is getting together next week, family from 3 states that don't get to see each other often enough. My mom decided we needed to have a watermelon seed spitting contest. My nephews will love this! I set out to make a regulation watermelon seed spitting mat and markers. I painted a 12"x11' shelf liner and marked every foot with my outlines alphabet. Then I made each person a name marker to place beside their seed. Accuracy is very important;)

This is also the gift for my aunt, the hostess, all packed up for her. She loves all things country and I think she will love this.

Off to see some fireworks tonight. Have a great weekend!

Love Birds

We're going to a wedding this weekend. Ryan's cousin is getting married. I made two cards. One from us and one from Ryan's parents. I love how the white rub ons (American Crafts) look on the clear cardstock.

For My Grandma

Tuesday, May 19, 2009

This card uses some of the products I won from Kristina's 50th Color Challenge.

This was the card I submitted for the challenge. I won all of these great products from Scrap Within Reach. I had never heard of them before, but I am really enjoying their papers, ribbon, and especially their rub ons. Anyone who has struggled with hard to use rub ons that end up ruining your project will appreciate the ease of use and quality of transfer that these rub ons provide. Kristins sent me their Afternoon Tea collection (used on this card) and their Industrial Park collection.

Thanks Kristina!

I'm starting to get to work on my Father's day cards so I have enough time to get a few in my shop. I love Papertrey's Men of Life stamp set.

My Birth Story

Monday, March 16, 2009

Last spring I took a course on Ethics. Part of our coursework was to journal on specific topics. The idea being that when we identify our core values we can more easily react to situations from those core values.

The journal began with a birth story, including the circumstances surrounding the time of your birth. I talked to both of my parents to get the info, which included how they and the rest of the family felt about my birth. Due to my grandmother's illness and caring for my young brother, my mom didn't know she was pregnant with me until the first time she felt me kick! My grandmother, who was well loved in the family, died about 1 month before I was born and my birth helped to ease some of the pain. Since then I have wanted to do a page using that journaling.

The safety pin is my actual diaper pin. My mom was kind enough to give it up, she still has one more that she wanted to keep:)

Journaling is printed on the back of the page. I want to do one of these for my husband too.
Have a great week!
