12 Kits of Christmas {February}

Wednesday, February 29, 2012

Today is the second month for the 12 Kits of Christmas!  I told you this month was going to be 'cute'!  Cathy sent out a great kit including this adorable polar bear.  You can see the rest of the kit contents at the end of this post.

I added the mat stack 5 die cut and stamp, the little snowflake stamp, a little twine, and the sentiment.  With all of that 'snow', I decided to make a shaker.  I added the adorable, silver snowflake, and I took the red gems off of the sticky backing and tossed them in there too!  Cathy warned us to open that bag of snow at our own risk.  I almost considered not opening it until the shaker idea hit me.  It's pretty packed and doesn't really 'shake' all that much, but I love it!

I embossed the snowflakes with silver Zing!  Have you ever used that stuff?  It is so pretty, way more than just silver embossing powder.  It has metal flakes in it so it really sparkles!

Here's everything that Cathy included in her kit.
Visit the other girls to see what they have come up with.
Thanks for coming by today!

  1. What a fabulous idea to make a shaker with that snowflake fluff! I decided I would see what others made with it and get some ideas! Love the silver embossed snowflakes too!

  2. I am so glad you used that felt bear! I almost didn't include them because they didn't have the little face on it, but it looks so nice on your card. I love the addition of the Mat Stack and you used the snow! Bet that was a mess, wasn't it? I am just blow away by everything you did with the kit Kara.

  3. Oh wow, Kara, your card is so elegant! I love the "snowglobe" that you created using the mat die, and the fact that you used the felt polar bear with no face and tied that beautiful snowflake on him really makes the card have a sophisticated look!

  4. Kara, this is amazing! I love that you added more than snow to the shaker and that you paired it with that sentiment. The little button on the bear is adorable! This is perfectly classic and elegant.

  6. Kara, I love your take on the ingredients - you didn't go for the obvious - you took it to the next level. Love your shaker box with that little hint of red on the inside and your felt polar bear with the button (another ingredient I didn't use - but now have a good idea what to do with!) Your card is just stunning! Love it!

  7. Oh, I LOVE this! You did a fantastic job 'thinking outside the box'! I adore how you did the shaker using a different die shape and adding touches of red. And your polar bear with the snowflake accent is just perfect!
