Dream On {Double Masking}

Tuesday, March 24, 2015

Today's card uses several Pretty Pink Posh dies.  I started by die cutting the Stitched Film Strip die from white cardstock.  I used it as a template and traced the rectangle openings with a pencil so that I would know where to concentrate my inking and stamping.  I removed the die cut and then created a mask using the stitched circles from the Stitched Duo 2 dies.  I placed the mask onto my project so that the circle opening was inside the pencils lines.  I varied the placement of the circle in each rectangle.  Using the mask, I sponged ink onto my project using WPlus9 Dye Inks.  The top circle moves from Little Piggy to Sweet Gelato, the second circle moves from Sweet Gelato to Cranberry Crush, and the final circle is sponged with Cranberry Crush into Black.

Once my circles were dry I stamped a butterfly from WP9 Flora and Fauna 2 on top of the top and bottom circle.  I masked off the middle circle and then stamped my butterfly.  This makes the butterfly appear to be flying behind the circle and also allows room for me to stamp a small sentiment.  I erased my pencil lines.  I then die cut four more of the Stitched Film Strip from black cardstock and layered them all together before adhering them to my project.  I wanted that black to be visible inside the frame and from the sides.

I used a stamp positioner to make sure my large butterfly lined up on all three layers.  Surprisingly easy to do!  I accented the main sentiment panel with just a few 6mm Sparkling Clear sequins to catch the light.

Thanks for stopping by.
Can't stop using these three colors together!

Sending You Hugs

Monday, March 23, 2015

Happy Monday!
I'm in love with all of the cute little polaroid cards I have been seeing around 'town'.  I wanted to create a similar look on my card.  I used a Pretty Pink Posh die to create my little 'polaroids'.  I die cut the Stitched Film Strip die from white and black cardstock.  I used the positive pieces on a card I'll share later and I used the negative pieces here.  I stamped and colored my images on the white rectangles and then adhered them to the black ones off-set on different sides.  I placed them on my card front in a cluster to look like a little pile of photos.

The card front is die cut from a SSS Stitched border die. To frame my cluster of polaroids in the center,  I used the PPP Stitched Duo 2 die to emboss rather than cut. That panel sits on top of a piece of black cardstock that  die cut using the Sunshine Layers die from WPlus9.  Love that scallop border!

I colored these cute little bunnies with my Copic markers and accented them with some Wink Of Stella.  I added a few sequins around the photos in Marshmallow, Metallic Silver, and Sparkling Clear.  I think I know just who to send this one to!
Thanks so much for visiting.
See you later :)

A Happy Hello {Border Shaker}

Sunday, March 22, 2015

Hello!
Well the snow has mostly melted away and my cold is not far behind.  Thanks so much for all of your well wishes.  Sometimes a cold comes and goes without much trouble and then sometimes you get one that knocks you right down.

Today I created this border shaker die.  Only the clear channel that you can see contains sequins.  I created the frame using the two largest SSS stitched rectangle dies.  Then I created the center panel using the Pretty Pink Posh Stitched Duo 2 die.   I used the circle die from that same PPP die set to create a mask.  Inside the circles I stamped a cluster of springtime images from 5 different PTI stamp sets and then removed the mask.  I chose inks for my images that coordinated with my PPP 4mm sequins.  The Lemon Meringue sequins were a great match for Harvest Gold ink, the Lime Sorbet sequins matched Spring Moss ink, and the Pink Blush sequins were a great match for Sweet Blush ink.  I threw in a few Marshmallow and Metallic Silver sequins for some added shine.

I used the same 3 inks to sponge some color onto this adorable Avery Elle 'hello' die cut.

It's Somebunny's Birthday

Saturday, March 21, 2015

Good Afternoon.  Despite this snowy weather my creative focus is on SPRING!  A few days ago I received a beautiful package from Pretty Pink Posh.  As much as I wanted to dive right in, I felt terrible! Finally today I have a bit of energy.  It might be the medicine, but I'm taking advantage of it!

I used this adorable stitched border die from the Stitched Borders 2 die collection to create my clouds and my hills.  Those carrots look so cute tucked in there.  I love them!  Everything colored with Copics got a generous coating of Wink Of Stella: her dress, the balloons, and the carrots.

To emphasize the movement of the balloons floating up into the sky I used a sprinkling of Silver Metallic Sequins.  They add to the sparkle and help move the eye up towards the sentiment.

Check out that shimmer!
Thanks so much for visiting.

Throwback Thursday #tbt

Thursday, March 19, 2015

 Hey guys.  Still not feeling great.  Ryan's sick too.
I thought I'd share a throwback to a project I made about this time last year.  The days were starting to get longer like they are now.  I'm excited for the change in seasons.  I'm looking forward to taking Piper to the beach and let her experience things she hasn't before.
Have a great day!

5 Card Making Trends For Your Easter Eggs

Tuesday, March 17, 2015

  I was doing so well with the 30 Day Color Challenge.  I think I made 12 days in a row.  Then I started to not feel so great.  So, instead of a project I thought I'd share some pretty things.  A few years ago I used glitter to decorate my Easter eggs.  This year I've been experimenting with using alcohol markers and stamps. I thought it would be fun to search for some more inspiration based on current card making trends.  I chose watercolor, gold foil, hand lettering, sequins, and ombre' since these are all really hot right now!

Thanks for visiting.
I hope to be back in my craft room very soon!

Sweet Sixteen {Marker and Alcohol Watercolor}

Sunday, March 15, 2015

This weekend I had fun experimenting with decorating Easter eggs using stamps, and markers, and rubbing alcohol.  Some came out great, others did not.  I found I got the best results when I scribbled the alcohol based marker {the more vibrant the better} onto my craft sheet or tin foil and dropped alcohol onto the ink.  I then, rolled the egg or in this case "smooshed" my paper into the ink and alcohol mixture.  The colors move and blend together and when the alcohol evaporates the color is permanent.

 The color on these eggs are more vibrant in person than in the photo.  I do not recommend eating these eggs since the shells are porous.  It was a lot of fun to do, even Ryan got in on it!

After using the same technique on my card, I stamped a butterfly from WP9 Flora & Fauna 2 and a sentiment from PTI Movers and Shakers in Versafine ink.

We are cooking some corned beef and cabbage today in honor of St. Patrick's Day and our parents are coming over for dinner.
I hope you are having a great Sunday!

When I saw Rahzi color with Copics on Kraft I thought, "How brilliant!"  It looks awesome and the thought had never occurred to me. TheThree Amigos set is perfect for this.  I love how coloring on the Kraft drastically changes the color of your markers.  It takes a little testing to chose the right markers for the color you want to achieve, but that's part of the fun.  After coloring these guys, I stamped them a second time and cut out their signs including their paws.  I popped these up to add just a tiny bit of dimension.  I added a great sentiment from another Mama Elephant set called Papa Love.  The arrows in the sentiment went perfectly with the two arrows I stamped onto the signs.

  I'm working on my next coloring project after dinner.  I prepared my canvases this morning, but ended up spending about 5 1/2 hours at the car dealership today.  My project had to wait...
Thanks for visiting.
See you later!

Just Sayin'

Friday, March 13, 2015

Hello and Happy Friday!
I'm still participating in the 30 Day Color Challenge.  So far it has been 10 days of consecutive coloring! I have really been enjoying participating in not only the challenge, but also the little community that Kathy has created on Instagram.  It's so much fun to check in with everyone for the day and see what creative things they have been up to.

Today I have a fun project to share. I started by die cutting some masking paper with a stitched rectangle die.  I knew I wanted to work on a die cut piece of cardstock and this way I could position my circles exactly how I wanted them to end up on my final project.  After die cutting the rectangle I positioned a circle die 4 times and ran it through my Cuttlebug.  This took a little measuring, but nothing too difficult.  Once I was finished creating my mask, I placed it onto my cardstock.  In each circle opening I sponged on dye ink in Little Piggy, Beanstalk, Bo Peep, and Falling Star.  I removed my mask and allowed the ink to absorb fully into the paper and even out before stamping my images.  You can take a peek at my project in progress {HERE}

Once the ink was dry I stamped all of my images and sentiment from Unforgettable and Bubble Talk in Versafine Onyx ink.  I love how it turned out.
Thanks so much for coming by again!

Flying By...

Thursday, March 12, 2015

Hello.....
Today's card uses a really cute set from Avery Elle.  I chose this set because I loved the cloud script words stamps and dies.
I realize I have a 'thing' for circles lately.  I seem to be using them a lot.  They are just perfect from framing or grounding images and sentiments in a design.  Everything that has been colored with copics is coated with Wink Of Stella.  For a little extra detail, everything red is also coated with clear, shimmer, Pico Embellisher.

All You Need Is Love

Wednesday, March 11, 2015

I love this little guy so much.  I've been seeing these images on so many adorable cards; the Three Amigos set just fell into my cart.  I decided to turn his little sign into a teeny tiny shaker.

I chose to add a sentiment from another Mama Elephant set called Smitten.  I cut this stamp apart so that I could stamp each line in a different color.  For the red portion I inked the stamp with two different reds to get the best match.

Thanks for visiting!
