Comfy Winter Sweater

Saturday, November 16, 2013

Good Morning!
I got a little stamping in this morning and now I'm going to run out and pick up a gift for a pregnant co-worker.  She's having a girl.  I'm going to need a comfy sweater today.  It's wet and cold out there, but it looks like the sun might find it's way out.

Have a great day!

Simple Snowflake {& FIF #142}

Friday, November 8, 2013

Hi!
I have a very simple one to share today.
I love blue so it's not hard to be inspired by this photo.

The snowflakes are die cut from paper that was colored with a mixture of distress paint and color shine spray.  It is very shimmery in person.  I embossed the snowflakes with Lacey Layers to add the lace element of the inspiration photo.

Thanks for stopping by.
Have a wonderful weekend!

Joy

Hello
It's been awhile since I have posted a project.
It just got busy around here all of a sudden!
I haven't spent much time in my craft room.
When I have, I've been working on organization and getting
Halloween cards packaged up with treats and ready to mail.

For this Wplus9 mood board I was inspired by large pattern and of course, color.
Not wanting to cover up the pattern I decided to try this idea, from Jennifer McGuire, to layer several of the same die cut word and then top it with the patterned die cut. I think I used 6 die cut words all together.

Hope you are all doing well!
Thanks for stopping by.

{WP9} Monday Mood Board #19

Wednesday, August 28, 2013

Good Morning.

I love the colors in this week's Monday Mood Board.
I decided to mask off a rectangle in the center of the card panel {leaving a one inch border} and then stamp a design alternating the ink colors I had chosen.
I started stamping by lining the stamp up in the corner of the card front and then positioned the rest using that one as my guide.

Thanks so much for coming by today!

Victorian {Sand} Textured Wallpaper

Wednesday, August 14, 2013

While on our recent trip to the Poconos, we visited the Asa Packer Mansion.
This beautiful home had so many unique details.  One of which was a wall treatment where they used stencils, adhesive, and sand or gravel to create textured 'wallpaper'.  Adhesive was applied using a stencil and then sand or gravel was thrown at the wall; it stuck to the adhesive creating patterns.  After the adhesive was dry, gold leaf or paint was applied over the sand.  I wanted to create this same look on my card, but instead of sand I used embossing powder that I didn't heat.  This takes a while to dry and I couldn't help it along with my heat tool because I didn't want to melt the powder.  The unheated powder left the perfect sandy texture I was looking for.  Just to make sure it was secure, I used a spray fixative to keep all of the 'sand' in place.

Unfortunately, you are not permitted to take pictures inside the home,
but here are a few from outside.

Good Morning!
This card set was fun to make.
Using a stamp from Wplus9's A Pocketful set;
I played around making some fun, graphic patterns inspired by the most recent Mood Board.

Embroidered Quilt Prints

Wednesday, July 10, 2013

Good Morning!

A beautiful new mood board from Dawn was the inspiration for my card today.
It's really beautiful, but uses colors that I don't use often.
That's what I love about challenges!
Using 2 Wplus9 sets I created this pretty floral pattern that I love.
I haven't explored them all, but I think there are tons of ways you could mix and match these two sets to create all sorts of beautiful patterns.

I hope you are having a wonderful week.
Thanks for stopping by today!

Camera Shy

Thursday, June 27, 2013

This card did not want to be photographed.  No matter what I did, change the time of day, change the background, it didn't matter.  I never did like having my picture taken either.  I guess that's why I'm always the one with the camera.  Everyone counts on me to take the pictures at family events and that's fine with me!

To create the XOXO banner strips I sprayed black color shine spary onto
white paper using an animal print stencil.
I let that dry and then dripped gold color shine on top of the black.
When that was dry, I die cut the borders and then sprayed them with a fixative.  The color shine sprays will come off on your hands and if they get wet they will reactivate.
To prevent both of those things, I sprayed the fixative.

Hope you're having a great week!
