12 Kits of Christmas {January}

Tuesday, January 31, 2012

Renee had a great idea to get a head start on Christmas cards.  We all (well, most of us it seems) wait until the last month or so before Christmas to get started on our cards.  With everything else going on at that time of year we often feel rushed and may or may not get all our cards completed.  I usually have to buy a box of cards to help fulfill my list.  Not this year! By the time December gets here I will have at least 12 cards completed (probably more).  Each month a different one of us will host the 12 Kits of Christmas, providing a kit for each of the other 11 ladies whom Renee has asked to participate.  This month Renee started us off right with a beautiful kit full of die cuts and ribbons that I don't already have.  It was so much fun to create with PTI's In The Meadow and the cool window die!

Another goal I had this year was to make my Christmas cards more mailable.  Well, I blew it on this card:)  That window just really made want to create depth and dimension behind it as if you are looking out your living room window.
Maybe next month!

Here is a photo of the kit contents.  The only thing I added that was not included in the kit was some glitter, the Peace die cut, and a little stamping on the window.  Renee really filled her kit with so many wonderful pieces to choose from.  I'm sure you will see more pieces pop up on future cards!
Now check out what all of the other ladies have made with their kits and if you leave a comment on each blog you will be entered to win a really great prize from Renee!!

I just received the February kit from Cathy!
February's cards should be cute;)

  1. Oh, Kara, what don't I love about this card? What just jumped out at me was the stamping on the window. I loved that! It just reminds me of a shadowbox, with something interesting in each box. Great job and start to our 12 months of cards.

  3. Kara, its hard to name all the things I LOVE about the card you created! I love that the ribbon hangs off the page, that you used the "peace" in black and it really stands out, that you stamped the top of the window with the pine boughs, that the snow behind the window is sparkly, and that yummy plaid paper on black and green! Gheesh, this card has so many elements and I love every single one :)

  6. This is stunning, Kara! I love that you offset the window instead of centering it, and the stamped branches across the top are so pretty. Love the way the silhouette, ribbon, and sentiment really pop, too!
