A Trio Of {Delicate} Baby Cards

 

These sweet little baby cards started out as a sheet of watercolor paper that I colored using a hexagon mask and distress markers.  I colored in random hexagons using all of the distress markers I have.

After removing the mask, I lightly spritzed the paper with water to allow the colors to soften.

The soft look made me think "baby"

 

 

I decided to mount the die cuts onto card bases made of the same watercolor paper to keep the card soft and delicate.

Ruby Rose {Watercolor} Lace

 

Well, I've tried to photograph this card at least 4 different times at different times of day and it just won't cooperate.  The watercolor is much lighter and more subtle in real life.

I love the way the embossed flowers and leaves look like lace!

Paper {Lattice} Shibori

 

I love the look of lattice shibori.

I tried to recreate that look using paper and distress inks.

It took several tries and variations on my technique to create something I am happy with.

While I didn't capture the type of bleed I was looking for, I loved how this piece turned out.

I think I need to use an ink that bleeds and spreads more than a water based product does.

Maybe India ink?

Feathered Leaf

 

CB: Autumn

 

To create the texture on the leaf I stamped a feather into several different ink colors before stamping on the die cut leaf.  I added a little color to the edges, with brown ink, using my daubers. The sentiment was selectively inked to create two lines of text rather than one.

It's been awhile since I have posted a project.

It just got busy around here all of a sudden!

I haven't spent much time in my craft room. 

When I have, I've been working on organization and getting

Halloween cards packaged up with treats and ready to mail.

 

For this Wplus9 mood board I was inspired by large pattern and of course, color.

Not wanting to cover up the pattern I decided to try this idea, from Jennifer McGuire, to layer several of the same die cut word and then top it with the patterned die cut. I think I used 6 die cut words all together.
