Pure Color With Kara #3 {Challenge Reminder}

 

Bonjour!  I'm in the process of cleaning the house and getting things in order to start back to work on Wednesday! I'm looking forward to a new school year, but I probably won't be able to post as often as I have been this summer, especially in the beginning until I 'fall' into the new routine.

For this card I have used the challenge colors to stamp a background with the Quilt Prints stamp set.  On top of that, I stamped a great sentiment stamp from Greetings and Salutations.  I used two die cuts from the Papel Picado die set to create an element for fastening my ribbon.  I thought it added a feminine touch to a more masculine card.

More Multi-Layer Ink Blending with Die Cut Masking

 

Hey Guys! TGIF!

I have another card to share using the same technique I shared with you yesterday.  There are so many images that could work with this technique, but I had to try feathers.  This time I also used blues.  The first layer is Bo Peep, the second is Falling For Blue, the third Nautical Navy, and the top layer is Black. 

 

 

 The layers of color and masks were applied the same way as before.  If you missed yesterday's post you can read it {HERE}. I created the masks using feather dies from both the Dream Believer die collection as well as the Dreamcatcher die collection. 

 

 

I added a great quote from the Dream Believer stamp set inside a circle die cut from the Love Mom Layers die collection.

Multi-Layer Ink Blending With Die Cut Masking

 

Good Morning!

I have a fun technique to share today.  I had an idea yesterday for overlapped, inked images in different shades or tones.  I thought if I layered my masks and blended a new color of ink each time I might achieve the look, and it worked!

 

 

Starting with a piece of white cardstock I sponged on some Hayride ink.  I cut several masks out of Post-It tape using the new Autumn Leaves dies from WPlus9.  After allowing the ink to settle into the paper, I applied the masks and burnished them with a bone folder.  Once the masks were adhered well, I applied the second color, Sweet Nectar, with the ink blending tool.  Without removing the first layer of masks, I added a second layer.  I overlapped the first layer of masks in some areas.  After I burnished the masks well again, I sponged on the third color of ink, Pumpkin Spice.  I repeated the process and sponged on my final color of ink, Gala Red. 

 

When all of the layers were done that's when I removed all of the masks to reveal the multi-layered masked images, I was so happy with how it turned out!  I added a simple greeting from Grateful Greetings to finish it off.

Paper Smooches August 2015 Guest Designer

 

 Hello! This is my final post as Paper Smooches August Guest Designer.  I have had such a great time working with PS and creating projects with their fabulous products.  Thanks for having me, Kim!

 

 

Today's projects focus on two great dies PS released this month: the Single Rose Die and the Ice Cream Cone Die.  I die cut them both from various colors of felt.  For my first card I inlaid  yellow and green felt into a white felt outline.  I added a simple sentiment from Summer Lovin' and layered the panel on top of some coordinating yellow cardstock.

 

My second card is just as simple with the focus on the felt die cuts.  I accented the ice cream cone with a little bow cut from the Kite Die collection.  Again, I added a sentiment from Summer Lovin'.

 

 

I added a little extra detail by die cutting a dotted border using a super cool PS die from the Dots and Dashes die collection.

PTI Blog Hop August 2015 {Stamping Text Over Stenciled Background}

 

It's time for another PTI Blog Hop.  It's one of my favorite challenges.  I have tons of PTI products and I love the chance to pull them out and get creative.  This month's inspiration photo is beautiful!  The range of colors were so rich and vibrant.  I pulled out 9 colors to create my project. 

 

 

Starting from the bottom, the colors I used are Cranberry Crush, Gala Red, Sweet Gelato, Little Piggy, Pumpkin Spice, Wild Mango, Hayride, Coconut Husk, and Warm Wool!  I sponged each color onto a scallop stencil using sponge daubers.  Once all of my sponging was done I stamped 'wish big', from Stylish Sentiments Birthday, repeatedly in black ink. I also stamped a secondary sentiment on a black banner and embossed it in white.   

 

I love how it turned out!

Monday Morning Leftovers

 

Good Morning!
I just have a quick and simple card  to share that I made using leftovers on my desk.  A vellum circle left over from this project.  A banner cut while making this project.  A few hibiscus die cuts that were cut when I was making this project.

 

 

The little hibiscus die cuts are so cute.  They are intended to accessorize the flip flops, but I wanted to die cut a ton of them and glue them down to create a background.  That never happened! lol  Too much work!  I colored these, and their leaves, with my Copic markers.

Stamping Text Over Stamped Images

 

For my most recent PURE Color With Kara post, on the WPlus9 Blog, I shared projects on which I stamped text over stamped images.  I love the look so much I sort of can't stop.  I have another project today and a project ready for next week's PTI Blog Hop where I use the same technique!

 

 

Using Post It Tape, I masked off a center rectangle.  I stamped floral images from the PTI Graceful Greetings stamp set in several shades of WP9 Dye ink: Sweet Gelato, Little Piggy, Ocean Drive, Falling For Blue, and Last Leaf .   I added some black dots from the PTI Over Under Easy stamp set.  On top of that, I stamped the 'Hello' sentiment repeatedly to cover the entire area.  I start by stamping the center sentiment and then fill in around it to make sure I get one full sentiment as a focal point in the center.  I added a secondary sentiment on a banner strip of black cardstock heat embossed in white.

Pure Color With Kara #3

 

 Join me today on the WPlus9 Design Blog for two projects that feature another one of my favorite PURE Color Dye Ink Combinations {and a chance to win a prize for playing along!}.  I was inspired by a scarf that belonged to my mother-in-law.  You can see a picture of the scarf {HERE}.  I made two projects, one masculine, one feminine and they both feature a technique of stamping text over stamped images.  But before you head over there, I have one more project  to share here that uses the same beautiful color combination:

Fairy Dust, Silver Lining, Wild Mango, Pumpkin Spice,

Bo Peep, and Nautical Navy. 

 

 

I used one of the images from Backgrounds and Borders 4  to create my pattern.  Stamping a few in one color before moving on to another color.  I wanted to keep it simple and let the pattern and colors be the star.  I also wanted to keep the card very occasion neutral so that I can give it to my husband anytime I want to leave him a little note.

 

 

I positioned the die cut 'smile' from Flower Doodles Dies so that the Nautical Navy dot looked like the dot for the 'i' :)

Grateful Autumn Leaves

 

Today I am joining the ColourQ and CAS(E) this sketch! with a simple design that has a gorgeous color combination.  I love these colors together: Ocean Drive, Gala Red, Wild Mango, and Silver Lining.

 



 

I used these colors to stamp images from Autumn Leaves. I paid attention to which colors overlapped each other. For example, the Ocean Drive and Wild Mango look pretty overlapped, but I did not want Ocean Drive and Gala Red to mix on this project.  They would create areas that I felt were too dark.  Also, when stamping multiple ink colors to create a background I tend to stamp the smallest image in the darkest or most saturated color.  Moving towards the larger images my colors get lighter or less saturated. I don't always like this best, but I start there.  

 

I stamped my sentiment from Grateful Greetings in Black dye ink.  Then, I layered up the card front with another panel cut from Steel Mill cardstock to accentuate the light silver outlined images.
