Gifts From The Sea

Sterling Silver Grey Ring

My mother-in-law and father-in-law just came back from a vacation to St. Croix. With them, they brought back some sea urchins for me. I love to sprinkle nature finds in little places around my house, so these were the perfect souvenir for me:) They know me well!

These gifts reminded me of an Etsy store I found awhile ago, Star of the East, with sea urchin shells made into the most beautiful jewelry.

Folk Art Stamping

Saturday, March 27, 2010

I was so inspired by Erin Lincoln's card in Paper Craft's Stamp It Cards Magazine. The magazine is filled with beautiful card after beautiful card, however, Erin's really stood out! She combined stamps in a really innovative way, creating the look of Swedish Folk Art. I couldn't wait to try it.

My attempt came out alright, but now that I've gotten the initial excitement to try it out of my system, I'm going to give it another try with a more thought out design.

Here's a picture of Erin's in the magazine.

Stamps: PTI Autumn Abundance, Polka Dot Basics, First Fruits, Studio G Flower

Cardstock: PTI Lemon Tart, Pure Poppy, Enchanted Evening, White

Ink: PTI New Leaf, Berry Sorbet, Pure Poppy, Enchanted Evening

Rhinestones: Kaiser Craft

Just another quick card for the Papertrey Blog Hop. I love all the bright, button balloons. They look like little hard candies. I used clear, pearlized buttons colored with my Copics.

Copics: R35, R59, YR04, Y13, G17, B37

Color Swatches

Wednesday, March 24, 2010

I love having these swatches at my fingertips while I am working on a project. Not having to get up to grab 5 different ribbon spools or pull out all of my cardstock keeps my work surface free of clutter and saves me the time of putting everything back after I am done.

This is my simple little system, but it works for me. The rings hang on the little hooks of my carousel.

I buy my ribbon at Michael's and this system is useful too when I need to replace a specific color of ribbon or if I want to match something up to my cardstock. I just grab these before I go!

A Fresh Face

Sunday, March 21, 2010

My mom has recently started paper crafting. She has been creating in one form or another all my life. I have encouraged her to submit some of her work in Lisa's Poppy Seed Challenge.
These are her two submissions!

Great cards, huh? Leave a comment and let her know what you think!

Butterfly Birthday Girl

Tuesday, March 16, 2010

Well, it finally happened. Our computer died. Luckily, we were able to replace it quickly. I did back up a lot of our files, pictures, templates, etc. Unfortunately, I'm still trying to locate the CD that has my photo editing software on it. Until then I'm struggling to use the very limited one that came loaded on this computer.

Anyway, I love this butterfly. When I received Butterfly Dreams, I thought this would be the least used butterfly from the set. While playing around with it last night, it just proved to me how perfect it is for cards and projects for a young girl.

How are you adjusting to the time change? I love having so much light in the evening!

First Birthday

Revisiting an old favorite with Star Prints. Also punched a few stars from a "patterned paper" I made using Tin Types, Ocean Tides ink, and Spring Rain ink.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Creating Backgrounds

Saturday, March 13, 2010

The new Tin Types Set can be combined in so many ways and works well with other stamp sets. I used the smallest dot from Polka Dot Basics to create another background that I used on the buggy. I love these colors together too!
