Obsessed

I'm back with another card using the same technique of copic refills on glossy paper from DCWV. This time I used a monochromatic color scheme and more gold foil paper.
I have been having so much fun experimenting with this technique.
I've thrown away a few things that just didn't turn out right, but I just love the way the ink looks on this glossy paper.  You have to be careful when you die cut a piece like this because the metal can scratch the ink off of the paper.  Also the ink will stick to your die cutting plate, but just a little alcohol on a cotton ball takes it right off.  Oh, and you'll have to do that to your die too, but it only takes a second to do.

I inlaid the gold foil piece and layered a popped up die cut word over that to create my sentiment. No stamping!

Such a fun technique.
Let me know if you try it!

Copic Colored Birthday

Friday, August 29, 2014

Yesterday I shared a technique using Copic Marker Refills on DCWV Whiteboard Paper.  For yesterday's card I kept the colors mostly separated with very little overlap.  This time I really wanted the colors to flow into and over each other.  The trick is drop one color, spread it around, blow on it, and let it dry.  Then you can add the next color and do the same thing.  This way you avoid getting brown, muddy spots.  For these cards I used four different colors.

Once the piece was dry I decided I needed to glitter it:)  I covered the piece with a double sided adhesive sheet and burnished it with my bone folder before removing the backing paper.  Sprinkle with glitter and rub it into the adhesive with your fingers.  I always do this and never have a problem with glitter transferring to everyone and everything.

I tried stamping on the colored glossy paper with Versafine, Momento, and Archival ink and none of them gave me the look I wanted.  They either wouldn't dry or stamp solidly enough.  I tried then heat embossing the sentiment and it worked, but I wasn't happy with how that looked either.  I also tried stamping on top of the glitter.  That worked, but again it wasn't really a dark enough/ solid enough impression for me.  So, in the end, I decided to leave the piece as is without any stamping.  If you have any suggestions for what might work, let me know!

If you don't have any whiteboard paper, Audrey suggested on IG that glossy photo paper might work.  I think that's a great idea!
Thanks so much for stopping by!

Almost forgot to tell you....
New projects have been added to the file for this week.
So many beauties there.
OK, see you later ;)

A Colorful Hello

Thursday, August 28, 2014

Well, this was a fun one to make.
So easy too!
When I put together the August kits for the 12 Kits Of Occasions, I included some White Board Paper by DCWV.  It's a glossy white paper that you can use just like the white boards in school.  I saw the huge pack at Michael's and the ideas started coming, but did I really need 36 12x12 pieces of it? Nope.  But.....if I shared the pack with 11 friends couldn't I justify buying it? Yup!  So that's how it came to be added to the kit. I thought it would be cute to create cards for kids where they could play tic-tac-toe or road trip games for kids to play in the car using dry erase markers.
But I didn't do any of those things...yet. I can't wait until Sunday when I get to see what everyone else in the group has done with theirs.

What I did end up trying today was using this glossy paper with my Copic refills.  I dripped the colors on, one by one, blowing each color around before it dried.  I think the blue looks like a camel! This would be fun to do with kids, like making cloud pictures.
Once the ink was dry, I glued down a sentiment die cut from the same gold foil paper I used the other day.  I also created to border strips from the gold paper.

I think the colors look so beautiful
and I can't wait to try this again very soon!

Golden Stationery

Monday, August 25, 2014

Recently Jam Paper & Envelope sent me some beautiful gold foil paperI hoped the weight would be light enough to line envelopes.  What's more elegant than a gold foil lined envelope? The weight is perfect. It die cut easily and didn't add a lot of bulk to the envelope.

The 'you' is die cut from the gold foil paper as well as my 'seal'.  The paper is a little delicate for embossing with dies, but I added some extra strength to it by first adhering it to some cardstock.  Then it embossed like a dream.

I used one of my all time favorite PTI sets, Friends 'Til The End, for the floral stamping.  To create my sentiment I selectively inked part of a sentiment from Up Up & Away.
Thanks for stopping by!
Can't wait to hop on over and see what you have created for this month's Papertrey Ink Blog Hop!

Tri Thanks

Monday, August 25, 2014

'Thank You' cards are the kind of cards you can never have enough of. Here's a simple one in a color combination that I find happy and exciting!

Between Hand Lettered Thanks and Hand Lettered Hello you can make just about any sentiment. The sets work so well together because the fonts are the same.  I store them together in the same CD case because they are so interchangeable. When you pull out one, you're going to want to pull out the other.

I clear heat embossed the sentiments and the black triangles to make them stand out from the rest.
Have a great day!

Hello!
It's week 181 of The Friday Inspiration File.
Here is a sampling of what you will find in there this week.
I love shinning a spotlight on talented crafters!

I've been in my craft room working on the

I feel so lucky to work with these beautiful products and
I can't wait to share them with you!
Have a wonderful weekend!

{PURE} COLOR COMBO #6

Tuesday, August 19, 2014

Another great color combination using WPlus9 Pure Color Dye Inks.

I took one little stamp from Papel Picado and created my pattern.
I eyeballed the center of the paper and stamped my first image. Then, with my second color, I stamped the image touching each of the four sides.  Then, with the third color, I stamped the image touching each of the 8 sides of the previous. And so on, alternating between the three colors.

I cut the piece on the diagonal several times removing one of the pieces to stamp my sentiment from Hand Lettered Hello.

The WPlus9 August 2014 Release was so much fun!  Tons of great products were released.
Well get ready because Dawn announced that WPlus9 is having a September 2014 Release as well!
Let me tell you, just between us, it's GOOD!

So nice to see you again!

Watercolor Flora & Fauna

Sunday, August 17, 2014

Good Morning!
I had some time yesterday to get into my craft room.
I wanted to try watercoloring these WPlus9 Flora & Fauna 2 images.  Until now, I have just used the images 'as is' stamping the outlines. They look beautiful that way too, but I wanted to wait to try this technique until I had a little quiet and extra patience to take my time and see what I could do.  It's not perfect, by far, but I think it turned out pretty!

I heat embossed my images in white and then
I used distress inks as my medium.  I find that success lies in the patience. Drying in between adding layers of color.

I'm excited to try again!
Thanks so much for stopping by.
I hope you're having a great weekend!

Trying a new format with larger photos and text.
What do you think? Which do you prefer?
