12 Kits Of Christmas {April}

Monday, April 30, 2012

Each month a member of the 12 Kits group sends supplies to all of the other members to create Christmas cards.  The goal is to get a majority of our Christmas cards done before the mad dash in Nov/Dec.  This month it was Marybeth's turn.  As you can see (above) she sent out a great kit.  So far I have made two cards, but I have a plan in mind for a few of the die cuts that I haven't used yet!

Marybeth stamped this lamp on a piece of white cardstock.  I decided to cut mine out and use Copics to create a warm glow inside the lamp.  I love the way it turned out.  It reminds me of walking through a small town that decorates their main street for the holidays.

This card was fun to make.
I got the chance to work with some die cuts that I don't own, but have wanted to try.

Thanks for stopping by today.
Check out what all of the other girls have created with their kits!

  7. Gorgeous!!
    As always!!
And isn't that lamp post image just amazing...
I love it but I should have used the "glow" too...
    never thought of it! :)
    But it is simply stunning!
And our downtown received a grant to revitalize...
our Mainstreet now has some of these lamp posts and benches and I absolutely can't wait for the holidays to see them lit up! :)
And I LOVED the silhouette of the tree on the music background...
I FINALLY get to say "I thought like Kara!!"...
which is a HUGE accomplishment for me...
but I won't insult you by making the "brilliant" comment...
    it's a first! :)
    Such gorgeous cards...
    as always!

  10. Both of these cards are so incredibly classy! I will definitely be CASEing the first one, as I love the lamp post but couldn't decide what to do with it. I love the warm glow you gave it! Your second card is so striking and elegant--the gold stars look gorgeous against the black and cream base.

  12. Both cards are so elegant & pretty! I love how you cut out the lamp post and added the touches of holly! Luckily I still have mine so a CASE will be in order! We have lights across from us pretty much like that. The bases are molded concrete with decorative tops. We live in an older neighborhood (our house was built in 1934) so they were added as decorative elements. And I adore your tree on the musical background using both stars--so simple yet stunning!

  13. Why didn't I think to cut that lamp out? It looks so pretty with the red ribbon, it does look like it is glowing. Your second card with the music background paper looks so nice with the tree silhouette. Great job, they are beautiful as always.

  14. Cutting out the lamppost was the perfect idea...that extra holly berry with red buttons was just the touch it needed to give it a true Victorian Christmas feel! And the silhouette of the tree against the music background is stunning in your second card. Looking forward to see what you create with those other dies you held on to ;)

  15. Kara...the lamppost....GENIUS!!! I am soo going to use this idea! I think it was the perfect thing to do with that image! On your second card, I love how you've layered the die cuts over the music score paper. I used that sentiment already but I'm going to find an alternate and recreate this one too! Sweet!

And thanks for the great pic of our goodies again this month!

  17. Lovely cards Cara!

I love how the ribbon goes behind the lamp post on your first card! And the glow of the lamp with that bit of holly are just the perfect little details!

On your second card, that tree looks like it was just destined to be paired with that music paper! So perfect!

    Thanks for sharing!
