My brother's birthday is coming up in about 2 weeks. He is definitely a no frills kind of guy. I decided to keep it very simple with the focus again on the ribbon. This time with twill rather than satin. More manly for sure. I love how the Copics look on the twill. There is no bleeding, just crisp lines. I tried making polka dots on this too. Although, it worked better than the satin, there was still too much bleeding to be usable on a project.
I used E55 and E57 to match the PTI Dark Chocolate and Kraft cardstock.
A simple sentiment from Men of Life and an old button are all this card needed to keep it clean and simple!
I also experimented with creating the look of ombre ribbon or fabric with 3 copics in the same color family. The result was good on the twill, but it made the ribbon so stiff. I haven't tried this on the satin yet. If you have been experimenting with ribbon/fabric and copics, let me know! I'd love to see your results.

Thanks for coming by today!
First I think your brother will love his card ...... such a guy card even with ribbon and a button :) I recently did a card with grosgrain ribbon and copics and I had the same thing ...... very stiff but it did do what I wanted. I was looking for a deeper green then the ripe avocado so I used the darkest color in that trio to color some cream ribbon. It looked great ...... and it was the exact color I wanted.
ReplyDeleteGreat masculine card! I love the ribbon that you created.
ReplyDeleteYour card is FANTASTIC! Your brother is going to really like it! I must try copics on twill.. I used them on ribbon.. but not twill!
