12 Kits Of Occasions {March 2014}

Monday, March 31, 2014

Welcome to the March edition of The 12 Kits of Occasions!
The theme, "In like a Lion, Out Like a Lamb"
This month Kelly has put together a kit for us that has us all ready for spring!
Be sure to stop by The 12 Kits Blog for a full list of supplies and projects by the other designers as well as this month's guest, Karen Stein.

For this card I took a stamped image included in the kit, colored it with my copics, and then sliced a line with my craft knife right at the top of the basket.  That way I could insert these large die cut eggs.  I love the look of the over-sized eggs in the small basket.  The eggs that were stamped in the basket are concealed behind the large eggs.  Didn't even know they were there, did ya? ;)

This little guy was so cute
I added the sentiment on the inside instead of the card front.

That little bird paper clip was one of my favorite things in the kit!
So cute!

And finally, a festive spring wreath!

Thanks so much for stopping by today.
Here's hoping spring will be here soon!

See all products included in the kit here.

Supplies not included in the kit:
Lil' Inker Bow Die
Copic Markers
Recollections Resin Flowers
PTI Kraft Cardstock
Fiskars Corner Rounder Punch
Lawn Fawn Circle Dies

Friday Inspiration File #161

Pink Marble

Sunday, March 23, 2014

This card was a lot of fun to create.
It was more of an experiment than anything else and I love the texture of the end result.
It reminds me of marble, but also has the look {in person} of a soft, fuzzy texture.

I created the heart by stamping and embossing the sentiment first.
Then, I wet the paper and added the distress inks using a finger dauber. Finally, I flicked and dripped  droplets of water onto the heart.
To create the background I added the color to the paper directly from the ink pad.
I added water {in flicks, drips, and spritzes} and dried the piece about 6 times until I was finished.  After it was dry, I stamped the sentiment and heat embossed it.  I used a stencil, Versamark ink, and a finger dauber to apply the embossed hearts.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Watercolor Lace

Saturday, March 22, 2014

Good Afternoon.
I almost said morning because I'm still in my pjs.
That's what Saturdays are for....
All week long I hop out of bed at 6am and rush to get ready and out the door in an hour.
Saturday mornings are different.

To get color into those tight spots, I used the smallest paint brush that I have
and it worked perfectly. The embossed lines help contain the water and color in the areas where they are placed and keep them from running together.

Have a great weekend!

Faux {Stamped} Diamond Plate

Sunday, March 16, 2014

Taking inspiration today from the tool box in my husband's truck
to make a masculine birthday card!

I wanted to create the illusion of texture because the diamond plate design is embossed into the metal.
I created the shadow by first stamping all of the light gray shapes and then dragging just the edge of the stamp through the black and stamping directly over top of the already stamped image.
It was surprisingly easy to do!

I hope you're having a wonderful weekend.
Thanks for stopping by!
