12 Kits Of Occasions {September 2013} + Guest Designer

Monday, September 30, 2013

This month's 12 Kits Of Occasions hostess is Kim.
Word on the street is that Kim LOVES Halloween.  That was pretty obvious when my kit arrived.
The box was all wrapped up and stamped with spiders!
Inside was full of die cuts, paper, and embellishments that were perfect for any kind of Halloween project you could dream up.  So many of the pieces I had never worked with, which was fun!

This card is one of my favorites this month.  The trick-or-treat die cut made such a great focal point on its own, but I wanted to add a little interest without losing the impact of that sentiment.

This one ended up being my favorite even though I discovered I hate working with sequins!
Maybe I didn't use the right adhesive for this particular application, but it gave me so much trouble.
In the end, I'm happy with it:)

This was the first card I made with the kit.  Inspired by a Make It Monday where Dawn layers multiple die cut borders.  For this card I layered the spider web border, a pinking shears border, and the leftover piece after die cutting the circle border seen on the next card.

I loved these little characters and wanted them to be the focus of the card.
I left a lot of  'black' space on this one ;)

And finally, another card using the Martha Stewart glow-in-the-dark glitter.
This cat is covered in it and he glows a bright green when you look at him in the dark.
I can't wait to send his off to one of my nephews.
Any one of them would love it!

Thanks so much for visiting today!
Make sure you hop over to the 12 kits blog to see our favorite cards this month and also to meet this month's guest designer! As always, you can find a complete list of this month's kit contents HERE.

Math {=} Art

Saturday, September 28, 2013

I love math!
Either you totally agree with me or you are giving me a disgusted are-you-crazy look.
They say you are either more right brained or left brained, but I love math and art.
I would even go as far as to say math {and science} equal art.
balance, symmetry, patterns
I created this pattern using a corner spider web stamp from the Avery Elle stamp set called
Twisted Treats.  I stamped in a repeated, connected pattern that reminds me of fractals.
I colored the sections with copics and then added glow-in-the-dark glitter to the centers.  The glow is super bright in person, but difficult to photograph.

Check out my Instagram feed to see it glow!

I'd say both sides are pretty connected!
Good to see you again ;)

Hello and Happy Friday!
I'm excited because Ryan returns home today after a business trip.
Also, his birthday was this past Tuesday, while he was away, so we get to celebrate!
Not sure whether to take him out to our favorite Italian restaurant or try something new.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend too!

Oh Happy Day

Monday, September 23, 2013

Good Morning.
Yesterday was such a beautiful day!
The perfect day for a bike ride.  Sunny and warm, but with a cool breeze.
A jeans-and-a-short-sleeve t-shirt kind of day.

I had my distress inks out from coloring my leaves the other day and I thought, "Why not?"
I don't often use them on a project like this even though I love how they look.
I only have about 5 colors, but I thought I'd give it a try.

Thanks for coming by today!

The Colors Of Fall

Saturday, September 21, 2013

Hello!
It's definitely starting to feel more like autumn in my part of the world.
Tomorrow is the first official day.
A really sweet friend of mine sent me these die cut leaves along with my birthday card.
Not only did she send them, but she sent a whole bunch!
These started out white, but I added some fall color with distress inks.

This card is full of new {to me} products.
I recently placed my first order with Avery Elle.
I picked up a few stamp sets that I'm sure you'll be seeing soon on my projects.
I also ordered some of this awesome Birch Woodgrain Cardstock,
as well as some white and colored cardstock.
I'll share a little review of the different brands of cardstock that I currently own in case you've wondered, like I had.  I'll post that soon.

The ribbon is from our {12 Kits of Occasions} September kit!
It doesn't give much away....does it?
It's not long now before we will share those projects with you.
It was such a fun kit to work with!
Thanks for stopping by!
Does it feel like Fall where you are?

Welcome {Jessica's} Sweet Baby Boy

Wednesday, September 18, 2013

Congratulations, Jessica!
Your little boy will  be here soon!

We are so excited for you and wanted to have a special
celebration in honor of Sonny's upcoming arrival!

Make sure you visit the 12 Kits of Occasions blog to continue the party.

I masked off the area surrounding the center using the mat stack die.
Over the opening I stamped the hounds tooth to create an area to place this cute little lion.

You can visit Jessica here to send her good wishes and congratulations!

Need A Lift?

Monday, September 16, 2013

Good Monday morning to you.
Did you have a nice weekend?
We got together with some friends for a little birthday celebration on Saturday night.
Talk about fun......
We found ourselves in a yogurt shop playing ping-pong at 10pm.
None of us have any ping-pong skills, as it turns out. :)
Yesterday I went to a bridal shower at the Molly Pitcher Inn
It's a beautiful place on the water and it was such a gorgeous day.

Here's to a great week ahead!
