12 Kits Of occasions {October 2013}

Wednesday, October 30, 2013

Hello!
This month it is my turn to host the 12 Kits of Occasions.
I have put together a kit for everyone filled with the colors of fall.
I wanted to include things in the kit that could be used not only for cards, but that could also be used to create elements of your Thanksgiving table!

After die-cutting leaves from vellum I decided to include the negative so that it could be used as a stencil.
That's how I have used it on this card.  I sponged on the color using my little daubers.
I used a really pretty card by Shari as inspiration for my card layout.

After making several cards, I decided to get to work on my Thanksgiving place settings.
I wanted to create a more masculine table this year using simple burlap, browns, and golds.
After all, there will be more men than women at the table this year.

Thanks so much for coming by.
Make sure to visit the 12 Kits Blog to see what everyone else has done with the kit.
I also have a special giveaway for you and you'll need to head over there to enter.
Good Luck!

All kit contents listed on the 12 Kits blog.
Additional supplies used not from the kit:

Tim Holtz Burlap Rectangle
Michael's Burlap Bag
Acetate
PTI First Fruits and BB Tin Types Stamp Sets
Clear and Simple Stamp Set Tea Time
Recollections Small Rhinestones
Gold Embossing Powder

Love You {Forever}

Wednesday, October 23, 2013

Today I have another card using distress paints.
They are even great to stamp with.
I dabbed a little onto my craft sheet, tapped the 'love' stamp into in, and stamped.
I was surprised how well it worked, even with a stamp that had text!

The weekend is almost here.
Do you have any plans?
We are going to a Halloween party.
Cute huh?

Melted Crayon {Fall Leaves}

Tuesday, October 22, 2013

I have another fun technique to share with you today.
It's so fun and EASY!

To create my leaves I took an xacto knife and shaved off bits of crayon, in the colors that I wanted, directly onto my cardstock.  I used, red, brown, orange, and gold.  My piece of cardstock was on top of some parchment paper on my ironing board.  Once I had shaved as much crayon as I wanted onto the cardstock I covered it with another piece of parchment and ironed it.  You can see through the parchment when all of the colors have melted together.  Remove the heat, wait just a few seconds for the crayon wax to set, and then remove your parchment.  After that you're ready to use it as a background, die cut it, or whatever else you can come up with.

Thanks so much for stopping by.

All You Need Is {LOVE}

Tuesday, October 22, 2013

Today I have another project to share with you using distress paints.
This time I put a line of blue, a line of green, and a line of yellow paint  onto my craft mat and swirled the paper into it.
Instead of using the circle on this one, I wanted to use the negative.

So happy to see you again ;)

Rainbow Swirl

Monday, October 21, 2013

Good Morning.
I'm still playing around with my distress paints. I really love these paints because the dauber style makes them easy to use and clean up, but really any paints would work for these techniques.

This time I thought, if stripes of paint make a cool design, what about putting down color in a circle and swirling the cardstock into it!
Loved the way it came out.

There are so many things you can do with the designs you create.
I have a few more to share with you later.
Thanks for coming by today!

Birthday Wishes

Happy Sunday!
I just got up. {kind of late, I know}
I'm listening to the coffee brew and looking forward to that first sip.
So I'll keep this short.

I recently watched a video where Kristina used her distress paints by swiping them on her craft sheet in stripes and then pulled her piece of paper across it.  I loved the look so that's what I've done here.

Have a great day!

After{image}

This may sound strange, but.....
As I was driving home from work yesterday the sun was in front of me.  As the sun came through the trees, the leaves blocked the light behind them, but the bright light between them was still visible.
When I closed my eyes, this left me with the coolest afterimage!
The spots where the leaves were was a turquoise-blue.  A few were white.
The spaces between appeared as a deeper, darker blue.
It was really quite beautiful!
This card is my interpretation of that afterimage.

On a piece of white cardstock I added pool ink with a distress tool over the entire surface.
Then I clear embossed a few images in a random pattern {most clear, but a few white}.  After melting the embossing powder, I repeated the first step, this time with tide pool ink. Again I added a few more embossed images and went in with broken china ink.

I couldn't waste this piece, so I made another card using the negative.

So now that you are convinced I am totally strange..lol!
Do you know what I mean? Have you ever seen these cool afterimages?
Thanks for stopping by!

{Halloween} Harvest Moon

Friday, October 18, 2013

I told myself I was finished with Halloween cards this year.
All of mine have already been mailed out and received by nephews and friends.

This was a fun card to make!
I wasn't sure exactly where it was going when I started,
 but I ended up here and love it:)

Now, do I keep this one for next year or try to think
of one more person who would appreciate a Halloween card?
