12 Kits of Christmas {February}

Wednesday, February 29, 2012

Today is the second month for the 12 Kits of Christmas!  I told you this month was going to be 'cute'!  Cathy sent out a great kit including this adorable polar bear.  You can see the rest of the kit contents at the end of this post.

I added the mat stack 5 die cut and stamp, the little snowflake stamp, a little twine, and the sentiment.  With all of that 'snow', I decided to make a shaker.  I added the adorable, silver snowflake, and I took the red gems off of the sticky backing and tossed them in there too!  Cathy warned us to open that bag of snow at our own risk.  I almost considered not opening it until the shaker idea hit me.  It's pretty packed and doesn't really 'shake' all that much, but I love it!

I embossed the snowflakes with silver Zing!  Have you ever used that stuff?  It is so pretty, way more than just silver embossing powder.  It has metal flakes in it so it really sparkles!

Here's everything that Cathy included in her kit.
Visit the other girls to see what they have come up with.
Thanks for coming by today!

ColourQ #126

Tuesday, February 28, 2012

Good Morning!
The ColourQ has a new challenge for you!

I love these colors.
They remind me of the wallpaper my parents had in our kitchen when I was a kid. Great for 1970's wallpaper, but a challenge for a card.  At least for me it was.  I played around with the colors for quite awhile and couldn't make them work for me. I think the toughest part of using a set color scheme is coming up with just the right amount of each to make it pleasing to you.

Have a great day.
Check out what the rest of the design team has come up with!

Pretty Peonies

Monday, February 27, 2012

A friend of mine, at work, needed an anniversary card for her brother and his wife.  I used the new PTI anniversary set Pretty Peonies.  I stamped, colored (with copics), and then cut out the peonies.  They are super easy to cut out!
I hope you'll come back tomorrow for a new ColourQ color challenge!

Glitter Buttons

Monday, February 20, 2012

Time for another Make It Monday.  This week Ashely has a video using glittered buttons.  In her video she uses spray adhesive to apply the glitter.  I don't have spray adhesive so I used a dab of glossy accents and smeared it with my finger.  Sprinkle a little glitter and you're done.  By the time you are ready to adhere the buttons they are dry.

I used one of the window dies included in the 12 Kits of Christmas January Kit that Renee sent me.

I finally decided to pick up a few magnetic knife holders to hold some of my large/ most used dies. LOVE them!  I only bought three, but could use more!  The little blue CD boxes hold the rest of my dies.  I got the knife holders at Bed Bath and Beyond.  They allowed me to use 3/$5 off coupons.  I don't know about you, but I seem to get a new coupon every other day.  I love that they let you use as many as you can even if they are expired!
I have also started storing my PTI inks flat as opposed to stacking them.  It was too much of a struggle to find the color that I wanted to use.  It works for now!
