A Happy Hello

Wednesday, March 30, 2011

Isn't this little bird cute?  He's a puffy from KI Memories.  They are new, at least at my local craft store.  Puffies come in all different themed sets.  Of course I chose BIRDS!!

I love the background leaves on this card.  I was unsure what color I wanted to use so I tried New Leaf.  I wasn't happy with the way that looked so I cleaned my stamp and tried Versamark ink.  Some of the New Leaf ink mixed with the Versamark and added just the right hint of green.
Love that!

Through Her Window

Tuesday, March 29, 2011

This card was so fun to make.  I used the leaf dies from Sending You to make little gingham curtains.  Instead of curtains on a window they could be a little girl's pony tails too!

See you later!

Lots Of Love

Monday, March 28, 2011

I can't seem to get enough of this Sending You set.  To think I wasn't going to get it.  I love the sentiments.  They make this so much more than just another floral set.

I made this clear envelope while experimenting with my mom.  We both agreed it was cool, but that it needed something to hide the hot glue (low temp) that was required to keep this envelope together.  When I pulled out these flowers we both agreed that was it!

I made the scallops with the Banner Builder Die.  They extended past the end of the card so I did end up having to add a piece of cardstock to the inside of the card to make the front and back match up.  (I added it after I took the photo)

It's Your Birthday

Thursday, March 24, 2011

This was actually the first card I made for the CR84FN Color Challenge.  I'm not in love with the coloring.  From a distance it looks OK, but close up it looks a little over worked.  Sometimes the more you try to blend it seems like color is removed by the lightest color.  Know what I mean?

Have a great day!

Make It Monday #7: Adding Color To Non-Neutral Cardstock

Tuesday, March 22, 2011

This week's MIM challenges us to color on something other than the neutrals we are used to.  I love this technique because it requires a lot less marker ink. It is also much easier to get a nice shaded effect than it is when starting with a stark white cardstock.

Friday Inspiration File #7

Friday, March 18, 2011

I've mentioned how much I love Ann's stuffed felt brooches and clips before. Check out her newest creations and how beautifully they are displayed!

Love this card of Debbie's.  It reminds me of Kelly's card from last week.

Debby's card makes me think of Maile's new PTI set.  Can't wait to get it!

Absolutely love the creativity of Amber's Make It Monday card for this week.  The technique and final product are just incredible!

Dana's beautiful butterfly card is stunning.  Love her use of patterned paper too!

Keisha is one of my all time favorites.  Spend some time on her blog and you will see.  Her crafts, her home, her photography...such beautiful style!

I LOVE birds.  I love bird's nests too.  Lea's card incorporates an adorable die cut nest and little pearl eggs.

Speaking of bird's nests, OMG:)  Ashley's card just leaves me speechless!

Love Melissa's technique for stitching around the blooms. Perfect color choices too!

Sweet falling leaves by Carly.

This is an adorable, sweet story!  Plus it is about a German Shepherd!

Have a great weekend!

Bundle Of Joy

Monday, March 14, 2011

Just a simple card to go with the gift on yesterday's post.

I've had a few questions and concerns about stamping and coloring on the onesies.
This is by no means the only way to do this, but this is what worked for me:)
I stamped the letters and images with Memento Ink.  I colored the butterflies lightly with my Copic markers.  They will bleed beyond the border of the stamped image if you use a heavy hand, which is what happened with the one pictured here.  It's not a lot of bleeding, but enough that I decided not to include it with the set.  I decided, instead, to use it as a test.  I threw it in the regular wash with our clothes and then into the dryer.  When it came out, it looked just fine.  Any bleeding visible in this photo was there before I washed it.
