Hip To Be Square

Michelle challenged us with her "Hip To Be Square" sketch. It's for all of us who'd rather have a quiet evening in than a wild party on New Year's Eve.

Although we do have plans for this evening, I'm sure I'll be ready to be home and on the couch by about 10pm.

Grandma's Doilies

I have a ton of old doilies. Some belonged to my grandmother, some belonged to my husband's grandmother, and some were made by my husband's great grandmother. I love them, but struggle to find a creative, more updated way to use them. Last year I tried this. They looked beautiful. Here is a new way to use doilies. I love this idea. They look so romantic hanging in the window. These were made by Jennifer aka Field and Sea. See more of her doily photos and how-to here.

Have a safe New Year!

All of these beautiful Temari balls are made by Wendy Klager. They are so gorgeous. Check out her photostream for more of her work and a description of the art form.

Inspiration Station

Inspired by Michelle's idea, I created an Inspiration Station for Valentine's Day cards and projects. I love seeing all of these supplies together and it's a great way to remember what you have in your stash and use it!

Home Made Embellishments

Playing around with a new stamp set I got for Christmas. My mom is getting into making her own cards too, so I think I'll give these to her. If I have time, I'll put some together for my Etsy shop. These would be great embellishments for Valentine's Day cards.

One final Christmas card.

I'm finally starting to feel better. Just in time to run around visiting family and friends! I hope you all have a wonderful and safe holiday!

Snowed In

I had been planning this weekend for weeks. It was my mom's birthday and I had planned a surprise party or her on Saturday night. It started snowing on Saturday morning and didn't stop. None of our guests were able to make it except my mom, dad, my mother and father-in-law. The six of us still managed to have a good time eating, drinking, and laughing.

They weren't able to go home Saturday night. We woke up Sunday, made breakfast and then started the long task of digging out the cars and waiting for the plows to come through.

Luckily schools are canceled today, because now I am sick. Stuffy nose and no voice! What a weekend. My mom was still surprised. She said she had no idea we had been planning this for her. I just wish everyone could have been there for her party.

Homemade Marshmallows

I used this recipe to make my own marshmallows. I wanted to try out the recipe to see how they came out before I made them as gifts. I used just a flower cookie cutter I had on hand to see how well they could be cut into shapes. I had originally planned on giving them in a snowflake shape. They came out really great. They were much easier to handle than I had anticipated. I think, though, that I will just cut them into cubes like these pictured below. I like the way they look and there won't be any waste. The cookie cutter left too much marshmallow wasted.

Have It Sweet

Have a great weekend. We might get some snow tomorrow!
Perfect for hot chocolate and marshmallows;)

'Twas The Night Before Christmas

I used a stamp set by Art Warehouse for the snowflakes and the text from 'Twas the Night Before Christmas.

Only a few more cards to make and I'll be done with Christmas cards:) When do you usually mail your out? 2 weeks before, 1 week before, now?

Something Simple

Trying to get a lot of Christmas cards done to mail out to family and friends. These are a few really simple designs, just a bit of paper and ink.
Have a great day!
