52Q-12 What Are You Grateful for Right Now?

Sunday, March 29, 2009

Question 12 from Emily Falconbridge's 52Q project. I am grateful for {our life} and everything in it!

Happily Ever After

Saturday, March 28, 2009

Purple is not one of my favorite colors. So, when a co-worker requested a purple card, I was not excited about it. I forced myself, in the first few attempts, to use purple as the dominant color. I hated them. When I toned it down a bit, I was very happy with the results.

We put the rack back on the car and took the bikes out last night. It was a nice ride, but a little chilly. I'm still waiting for spring!

Address Labels

Wednesday, March 25, 2009

One thing that I wanted to add to my mom's desk file was a matchbook of address labels. I printed her address on regular address labels and then stamped a simple house on each one.

I'm working on filling the files with some greeting cards, stamps, a small address book, and a notepad.

Painting club again tomorrow. I have really been struggling with my painting, but I feel I am finally satisfied with my sky. It's a lot harder than I thought it was going to be. I am having a great time and there are some awesome 5th graders, with a lot of talent, in there with me. It is wonderful to watch their paintings take shape.

Can't Seem To Catch Up

Tuesday, March 24, 2009

Lately it seems as if I am always trying to catch up. Not sure what it was that threw me off, but I am having a hard time getting back "on".

Made a bunch of quick, easy cards for a work muffin swap. Each card says who baked the muffins and was placed in front of the basket or tray.

I am behind on last week's 52Q question and quickly falling behind on this week's question.

I am in love with these earrings, but I missed the boat on these too. Maybe another pair will become available in sproutstudio.

Love these vintage bobby pins from the same Etsy shop.

I did manage to go for a run last night. That's good:)
Hope you are having a good week.

Timeless Templates

Monday, March 23, 2009

I picked up a few Timeless Templates from PaperTrey Ink. I have been working with this one as a gift for my mom. I am still working on the contents of the files. I'll show them when they are complete.

My Birth Story

Monday, March 16, 2009

Last spring I took a course on Ethics. Part of our coursework was to journal on specific topics. The idea being that when we identify our core values we can more easily react to situations from those core values.

The journal began with a birth story, including the circumstances surrounding the time of your birth. I talked to both of my parents to get the info, which included how they and the rest of the family felt about my birth. Due to my grandmother's illness and caring for my young brother, my mom didn't know she was pregnant with me until the first time she felt me kick! My grandmother, who was well loved in the family, died about 1 month before I was born and my birth helped to ease some of the pain. Since then I have wanted to do a page using that journaling.

The safety pin is my actual diaper pin. My mom was kind enough to give it up, she still has one more that she wanted to keep:)

Journaling is printed on the back of the page. I want to do one of these for my husband too.
Have a great week!

52Q Flickr Pool

(screenshot of my Flickr favorites)

A lot of really interesting and wonderful artwork is added to this pool everyday. These are a few of my favorites so far. I'm looking forward to this weeks question. Click link above to view each individually. Back to the laundry I go.

Little Girl

Another accordion album (4x6). I love this paper.

I used some of the vintage buttons that I bought at the auction a few weekends ago.

CI #45

Thursday, March 12, 2009

I made this little accordion album as a place to put pictures and the story of my family's immigration to the United States, from Italy, sometimes in the early 1900's. I left it blank inside until I collect the story and photos from my dad and his brother and sister. I am hoping that my grandparents relayed some or all of the story to them because they are no longer alive. I found the Italian word for Dream, Sognare, to include on the cover.

52Q-10 Name 5 Movies That Inspire You Creatively

Wednesday, March 11, 2009

I look forward to the responses to this week's question. Ryan and I love to rent movies and it will be great to have a list of some well loved and inspiring movies to check out. My list is:

The Piano
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Nightmare Before Christmas
James and the Giant Peach
Royal Tenenbaums

All are beautiful visually. They make me want to make things or take pictures of things.

Still image from the movie is printed on vellum and heat embossed. I layered that over part of a calendar photograph taken by Ansel Adams. A masking tape transfer of sheet music is layered between the two. It is very subtle, but is visible. (see photo above)
