Oh Joy!

Sunday, November 30, 2008

It has been raining here all day. I did some grocery shopping and then I spent the rest of the afternoon in my craft room. Rainy days are the best for staying in and crafting. Even my husband has been working on his model airplanes and making a big pot of soup.

I have a few projects to share today. All use Cosmo Cricket's Oh Joy paper. First is a gift box made out of a used wine bottle cylinder. Super easy, just covered with a 12x12 sheet of paper using Tacky Tape.

Then I made a box set of Christmas cards. The box is really easy to make using this video tutorial. Angie's blog is full of video tutorials for all sorts of great projects. So glad I found it.

Then to fill the it, I made 6 cards that measure 4.5x5.5 inches and fit perfectly inside the box.

The kitchen is coming along. Renovations always get worse before they get better. Everything is torn apart and you think to yourself, "Oh no, What have we done?" Then you start putting it back together and you can start to see how it will look when it is finished. We got the drywall in this weekend and started thinking about paint colors. So far I like Wild Artichoke by Valspar.

We still have a lot to do, but from here on out it will look better and better:) I'm excited!

Thank You

Happy Thanksgiving!! Hope you are all having a wonderful day with family and friends.

Along with the announcements I made for my friend, I thought she could use some "Thank You" notes for all those baby gifts she will be receiving.

I love the way they turned out. Hope she does too!

Snowy Days: Color Inspiration

Wednesday, November 26, 2008

Just a quick post before work to make it in on time to this week's color inspiration from Kristina Werner. Half day today and then time to bake some more chocolate chip pumpkin bread to bring to Ryan's parents' house tomorrow.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Welcome To The World

Tuesday, November 25, 2008

A friend at work will be beginning her maternity leave at the end of next week. I wanted to make her some birth announcements. She knows she is having a boy, but hasn't decided on a name yet. It has been a lot of fun seeing how the first graders react to her growing belly. Their questions and comments are heartwarming and hysterical.

I decided to give them in a box from one of my PaperTrey Ink stamp sets.

I used Making Memories paper and I cut out some cute shapes with my Silhouette. I hope she likes them and I hope she doesn't visit my blog before next Friday!

Happy Birthday

For your birthday, Robin, I give you the cutest picture ever. Is this dog too much? This is how she slept last night, bundled up with her fox under her arm.

Have a great birthday!!!

A New Door

Thursday, November 20, 2008

The new door from the kitchen to the garage is in. I know it looks pretty much the same, except now it is an actual exterior, fire rated door. Before it was just a regular wood interior door (not code). I don't know how our home inspector didn't catch this one! Oh well, on to moving the plumbing for the sink over about 15 inches.

Found a few minutes to make another Christmas card. I love these American Crafts Foil Thickers.

Tomorrow is Friday! I am looking forward to the weekend.

A Chance to Win

Working on installing the new back door tonight. Just popping in to link you to a great giveaway. Check out Debbie's blog to enter. Good Luck!

More Felt Finds

Tuesday, November 18, 2008

I just can't seem to get enough of felted items. I recently found the cutest little baby booties at Pretty Little. The ones with the kite are my favorite.

Then I found this little guy at Fuzzy Soap. I hesitate to even show him because there is only one listed in the shop and I just want him. I'll have to figure out who to give him to and buy him.

Kasanika has these felted baby links that I like a lot too. They look so soft and colorful.

Have fun shopping on Etsy. There are so many wonderful handmade gifts there.

Sending Joy

Sunday, November 16, 2008

It has been a busy week! We have been working on the kitchen every night after work until about 10pm. Re-wiring and removing all of the drywall. We need to put in new drywall, install pot lights, lay down the hardwood flooring, and paint before the cabinets come. (I'm sure I am forgetting some things) We're getting there.

Today we ordered our new kitchen cabinets. Ryan said my face was flushed the whole time:) We got lucky that they are having a promotion, 20% off. That helped. They are not cheap, but I know it will be worth it when we are done.

These are the exact cabinets and finish that we ordered. The layout will be different because our kitchen is not set up this way. We haven't picked out our counter top yet. We have four weeks before the cabinets are delivered. We are installing them ourselves. Saves us about $2,ooo that way.

We also went to my nephew's birthday party this weekend. He loves nature and animals. So, along with some books, we gave him this bucket full of sea animals. I made the little sailboat using a template available at PTI. He really loved it!

Enjoy the last bit of the weekend. I have to finish the laundry so we have something to wear to work tomorrow:)
